i feel like some of you will realize how good quaristice is in like 2 years from now

don't get me wrong, a lot of it is gold. it's just a bit too sketchy, and there's too much of it - i haven't whittled it down to my ideal playlist yet.

it's amazing how easily ones finger presses the play button again after... ................. oh fuck this is weird-i've never listened to an album so many times in a row.

this ep really is some fucking great shit. i like the fact that there's almost an alternate ae chronology you can get by just listening to the eps and not the albums.

please autechre, make another incunabula

Yeah, right... Sean and Rob will return to their primitive era despite their gigantic modern studio to please the few fans who adore their debut album that came out 20 years ago... Anyway, the equipment used in Incunabula was so frequently used back then, you could simply listen to the other albums in the AI series. Furthermore, why ask for more if you could just enjoy a style introduced in one of their albums? Begging like a baby for repeating their style never led anywhere.

i agree. it seems they love to experiment/let their hair down a bit more on their EPs, they tend to be more abrasive/abstract.

ugh, why?

i don't want another version of any ae album, imo the whole point of ae is that none of their albums sound anything like the one preceding it.

i just can't wait for ae to make musick to play in the dark volume 3 (featuring jhennerative balance algorithm v1)

same here... I did the same with Oversteps, but Move of Ten had even more surprises and I kept hearing the little Oversteps references bleeding through :0

i missed the last 2 albums but gave this a listen and actually really enjoyed it. except the first trk which seems to be a joke

really? on the first track??? i mean under a certain frame of mind i could see how this entire album can be looked at as a piss-take, but surely not just the first track out of them all it seems the most cohesive and interesting to me. But i have this dilemma with pretty much every post Draft AE release, it's hard to tell if they are being dead serious, or having a laugh or both

I think it is a bit of both. Even Draft has that element to it I think, some of it seems like they weren't taking themselves too seriously (V-Proc, 6IE.R or whatever it's called). I think they're just taking a more laid back, fun approach. Maybe they're mellowing out as they get older.

nth dafusederb is very BOC. weird

I agree. I've only seen one other person make this comparrison and it was instantly shot down cos it was in the Autechre subforum :P

The only reason it's BoCish to some people is because of a flute sound, which BoC didn't exactly invent. I don't think it's comparable to BoC in any way (and I like BoC) BOC BOC BOC

It's funny how many people chiming in saying "I THINK IT'S LIKE ANOTHER VERSION OF D-SHO QUB!!!" Is it not completely obvious that it's the same beat then?

the flute certainly is very bocish but its even before the flute starts. the reverbed vintage synth is pretty boc too.

if it was an autechre remix of a boc trk i'd be unsuprised.

wtf is with the piss take talk again... EVERY release it seems this bs comes up..

It's a combination of what they (or what one of them) says in interviews, and the actual sound of many of their newer tracks, which can sound silly, sketchy, and occasionally downright lazy.
