there are alternatives, there are other versions of the offside rule, indoors soccer has the three line rule for instance, I'm not sure what would be the ideal, maybe scrap offside rule entirely when the ball is in the last quarters of the field or something like that.

it is just about goal hanging and nothing else.

yes of course the offside rule is a whole game changer for defense... duh.

anyway i'm not gonna repeat myself or keep discussing this, read the older posts in this subject, i just wanted to make clear that i'm not just saying this because i don't understand the rule.

you still have to take into account the line refs' mistakes; that's what bothers me the most...

I thought they looked ok, they defended well for the most and attacked with speed, i reckon theyll get out.

they do everything right except what's important.

it's weird, on paper this is probably the best team mexico's ever had, on the field however it's maybe one of the worsts of recent history. the strikers can't even score the clear shots, and the defenders screw up in the worst moment. yes they have great ball position and recuperation, but if you can't score or defend properly it's all gone to waste.

atdhe.net kicked me off a few times. then with 10mins to go it wouldnt let me back in. :(

it was down when mexico scored too but i knew because someone nearby went apeshit

south africa looked good but you could just see mexico scoring at any second

I did. It was about the only entertaining thing from the first 45, except maybe Ribery's face as usual.

I liked Forlan's shot on goal. I wish he'd done more with it, but it was the best chance of the first half.

i always loved a strong defense and then having outside backs cover the entire line. i was always a wide outside right back that covered the entire wing i think it is a great way to play

Yeah, I didn't think it was boring. I like that sort of defending well enough, even though I would have liked a bit more opportunity for Forlan. However, let's be honest. He had the best chances of either team and came up short. I was shocked that he missed the volley off that throw-in. Wow. You'd have bet your house on Forlan there and he shanked it.

Once again, most villainous cunt award goes to Henry for trying to elicit the handball against the Uruguayan defender toward the end. That would have been a disastrous call and...let's stop and point this out...the officiating for the first two matches was just about superb.

Lodeiro's sending off of course was very deserved and he knew it right away.

The two first games were ok.
