oh my. is it raining real hard down there? the playing looks like it, but my crappy internet connection can't get a good quality live feed. it sucks. ENGLAND, GO HOME

Just...wow. No excuses. That's a stop any keeper in beer leagues should make. After the Americans handed them a goal on a silver platter, Green had no reason to be rattled but he clearly is very much so. Just WTF. Beckham's expressionless reaction says it all.

Overall, after 45 minutes, 1-1 is a fair score, isn't it? Both teams have had their chances. I'm tempted to say the Americans have played better, but that might be nationalism.

Thoughts everyone? Donovan looks good. SWP and Lennon look good, but Lennon seems to have borrowed Walcott's studs with runs that have gone nowhere.

Tied @ the half with a Green lol and the scary early goal..... How's it gonna turn out chaps?

Right now, I think the English may have ghosts creeping into their conscience. "Is this unraveling on us, lads? Fat Frank, step up, twat. Didier isn't here to rescue you today."

Lampard looks terrible yet again, has to be said.

I predicted/betted a 2-1 win for England beforehand, but after seeing the first match I can see it going 1-2 for USA. What I don't understand in the England squad is why Heskey is still playing?

Really? Like it or not, he had the smarts not to squander the first goal. What do you think Darren Bent would have done in the same position? Shanked it into the 10th row, that's what.

We didn't play too badly. The USA weren't all that bad tbh. We'll definitely need to up our game in future though. But at least there are some promising players, Lennon, Heskey and Gerrard in particular. I was a bit disappointed in Rooney. Didn't play badly. But I expected more.

Wow. Ruud Gullit: The Prophet.

Starting Milner was a huge mistake for Capello. He looked half-dead the moment the game started.

On the whole, I think a draw was the only fair result but we all know the English press and the local whiny pussies at WATMM will collapse on Robert Green and blame him entirely. There's some truth in that, but guess what? The English outclass the U.S. at every position on the pitch except keeper and, well, that's pretty fucking important.

The Yanks can thank Howard for the draw and the limeys can thank Green. lol.

england looked poor and disinterested. a tie is all they deserved. have they been drinking the media kool-aid and thought they would win this easily?

Yeah, for all the shit talked about Heskey, he was one of the few bright spots for England.

Rooney waited 75 minutes to take notice of the score. Lennon didn't impress me, nor did SWP. They were given a lot of space so it's not like they earned their chances to create from the wings. What did they do? Like I said earlier, I think they borrowed Theo's boots because they kept getting dispossessed or they'd squirt useless crosses.

Gerrard, today, best English player, I reckon...this English defense/keeper looked truly, unimaginably, hilariously awful and imagine if they had been playing Spain, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Holland, Italy, or North Korea. They would have been on their backs looking up the whole time.

That American fullback looked very good, didn't he? Cherundolo...

England dominated on possession, but we managed to keep it out of the net. I'm surprised it came out @ 1 all (there were some ridiculously open looks the England couldn't net... but I'll definitely take it.

England looked very ordinary. Some great players out there, but when the only tactic was to hoof the ball to Heskey, and then when that didn't work to bring on an even taller player, they never really had a chance of dominating. What's so wrong with trying to pass the ball? England may still go very far, but will need to adopt some strategy that allows the footballers to play football. Green will get a lot of flak, but Capello should be subjected to a few questions too. That was simply abject football. Plenty of time to go back to the form in the qualifiers, but not a good start.

As I'm supporting Argentina as they're the only team with a Newcastle player and the England squad is the biggest charisma vacuum since the BoC subforum, I'm in a position to give an unbiased opinion.

The USA were shit. Trust me, as a Newcastle fan, I know a shit football team when I see one. Considering how hyped they've been as the team that broke Spain's undefeated record breaking run last year and very nearly beating Brazil in the confederate cup final, they were absolute wank, and could have easily lost 5 nil.
