so basically all we got recently is a boc banner that shows a gigantic explosion instead of the new album. maybe there is a deeper meaning in the explosion...

I associate a image like this with the words: canceled, not happening, project discarded, the idea was shit

what do you associate?

Nobody also said that this album would be their only release either this year, did they?

Don't be fuckin' with us now.

:cerious:

No longer will I fornicate with my fellow BoC fans - it's been mentioned several times in the past that their next album might not be their only release in 2010...

I understand the significance of the image now, if it was posted with a particular event in mind.

I think the whole BoC forum should be locked until an album is released. This is getting ridiculous.

Why? There are plenty of other BoC threads not related at all to the upcoming album.

There WILL be at least an album released in 2010. I have confidence in that statement.

You're either deluded or you know something I don't. It's probably a little bit of both. But I'm quite happy with the amount of material I've gotten from my favourite artists this year.

All this BoC related fretting is mind boggling though

Like I've already said on twoism.org:

That's great! Any news is news to me! I think it has to do with either the finalisation of their forthcoming album (mastering or track selection) OR jamming for future records to be released after the ones coming in 2010. Either way it's great news. I think they went on holiday and just returned to their music production hideout.

And yes that myspace site is an official site, but not since the very beginning. They've taken over the account which was initially created by a fan. Read the statements page @ bocpages. (they = not them, but close friends of theirs) Like most bands they are not really into keeping track on all the internet communities like facebook, myspace, twitter, last.fm... they rather have that out of their hands and therefor it's being maitained by close friends of them and pr people from the label. Basically anyone else but themselves really. That's not such a hard concept to grasp.

Some interesting quotes by MDG for backup of the above claims:

MDG: "to clear this up: the myspace page was taken over by warp some time ago, and is now maintained by both warp staff and a couple of friends of the band, on a 'when time permits' basis. the 'you and i' player on the page is apparently only visible to US users, and was added by myspace themselves. they've been contacted a few times with requests to remove the 'you and i' thing but they've ignored the requests."

MDG: "there are at least four people keeping an eye on it to keep spam off, and i have access to it."

MDG: "This message is absolutely right. The guys' 'radio silence' is simply because they're busy. They're not retiring anytime soon. If it gives you guys any kind of useful insight, Mike and Marcus hate doing promotional work, and they see things like MySpace as counter-productive homogenizing communities. But the page was set up by a fan and was already mis-representing the band, so they requested that it was taken over so they could at least know that it wouldn't start filling up with shit. They would have shut it down, but were persuaded by Warp to keep the community going."

MDG: "At this point, the box set of early material is looking 99% likely to happen. I say that because it hasn't been finally compiled yet. There's a big archive to get through, the obvious tracks that were on various demos and mixtapes given out to friends in the late eighties and early nineties, but also a huge amount of unreleased material that hasn't surfaced so far. There are hundreds of tracks for every year from say 1986 through to 1995, and then for every record BOC have released there are a mountain of tracks that didn't make it onto the record. So the time involved is the only issue from what I understand. There's been regular debate across here about what goes on them and in what order etc. But if you can be patient, these tracks will come out, and a whole lot you won't have heard yet too. Asides from that, let me just say once again for the record, there's a new album coming out first, and maybe more. No dates yet, but they are definitely coming."

just release the damn album already.. They could learn a thing or two from autechre.

Sometimes it's not just that simple - imagine if you spent all afternoon cooking a roast, and then when taking it out of the oven to say, baste it with it's own juices, it somehow fell onto the floor, getting ruined in the process - how quickly would you be re-making the roast in time for dinner, let alone the time you'll spend cleaning up the mess? Like making an album, that's a potentially huge undertaking, and not something you approach lightly. I am sure the album will be deserving of the wait and the time took to ensure it's exactly what BoC want released for the fans to consume.

WOW

I will now rss feed the mdg pages on your wiki lol

Unfortunately you can't use the rss feed on a specific page. What you might have seen was a leftover from the mediawiki extension semantic wiki.

It's only possible to subscribe to the general mediawiki atom feed which basically lists all the recent changes being made to the whole wiki. (bocpages Atom feed)

If you want to keep track of one specific page you should use the watchlist feature (you need to logon to use it). http://bocpages.org/wiki/Special:Watchlist -- you can add any page to your watchlist and specific changes will be tracked and e-mailed to you if you enabled that in your preferences: http://bocpages.org/wiki/Special:Preferences

btw today I upgraded to the latest mediawiki installation 1.16.0 -- so far all seems to be ok, but I could use some helping hands with the RSS features.. I'm no expert on the matter regarding mediawiki installations. Anyone?

they must have one very well fed dog with a serious cholesterol problem after four years of roasts.

@Fredd-E yeah but these are from 2009

I will use a HTML to rss feed provider

Yeah, most of the statements are from 2009 and before. There's only a couple made in 2010 unfortunately. But I see I did not report some recent updates by MDG on the facebook bocpages site. I'll try to not forget it the next time.

I used to use this html2rss tool: http://page2rss.com/page?url=bocpages.org/wiki/Statements_from_Hexagon_Sun -- That one worked for me in the past, but ever since google reader can do the same thing I've abandoned page2rss.com (if you subscribe to a website in google reader which does not have a rss feed on it, it will create a feed for it itself to keep track of changes)

Or, a very slow-cooking roast - you know the longer it's in there, generally the better the outcome is. I love it when meat just falls off the bone.

True, but if we're using that analogy, you still have a large number of guests excited about dinner who are still going to arrive quite hungry, and while you're recooking the roast, you could pull some of your abundance of delicious leftovers out of your freezer that your guests are well aware you have, heat them up, add some spices and tide over your famished guests until the amazing roast is done. :whistling:
