I don't know, I've always been a what you see is what you get to be honest. When I met the girl I'm now dating I never once though we'd end up in a relationship, she was married. So there was no pressure at all to make any good first impressions.

 

george, are you moving in with this girl before you've met in person? or am i misunderstanding?

Be cautious dude. Interacting with somebody via something that seems as personal as Skype and a webcam is still totally different than being around them in person. I'm not saying she has things to hide. Just that it may be different than what you expect. Until the meeting, your idea of how she is, her habits, personality and behavior, manners, etc, is probably not accurate. You've only had what information she gives you via online to piece together your idea of her. I have my own sob story about this from a few years ago but can't be assed to type it here. Cheerz Couch, and yeah one of my previous girlfriends I first met online, and she was very differently to live with in real life but it didn't change how I felt about her. Her personality as protrayed online was the same in real life, although yes her habits and way of behaviour could be annoying at times so I'm going into it with an open mind and experience on my side :-).

 

Thank you for the words, I'm really looking forward to visiting the states, I'm coming with my best friend and we both have many other friends in and around Michigan that we will be visiting also. Planning on driving to Atlanta which is about a 12 hour trip but we both are used to driving 600+ miles in one day so a few few extra hundred shouldn't be a problem.

Though I vowed to give it a break for a few months I went out with another girl last night. Really couldn't get a good idea of her via computer. I actually told her I was closing my account and if she was serious to email me. She did, hoorah.

 

No known cure for my kind of buffoonery. We agree to meet somewhere. I get there but mercy fucking jesus holy shit you idiot this isn't the building you thought it was. I was already cutting it close and two minutes earlier sent her a text "almost there!" to which she'd, like a lightning bolt, replied "here! i'll be outside." I text her and 'splain, thankfully she calls, very forgiving, say's she'll come find me 'cause I really don't know my way around the city that well. Before the call I was ready to walk back to the bus station, "that's me done!" So, she's walked 15 minutes to locate me. Very embarrassing. Drink somewhere, eat somewhere else. It's all general talk but we get on well, I think. She's very nice. We watch two teenage girls very seriously fill in forms about their experience at the restaurant. I begin to do the same and she takes it off me, ticks intimate meal "just helping you out." We walk a bit, halfway back to the bus station, she wants to wait with me but I tell her you crazy, it's freezing, don't worry, go on home will you. She's very friendly, strange smiling goodbye ceremony, all of/most of the stupid I've kept a managed to clench in flops out rurhubulurgyaha and she hugs and kisses me on the cheek as I'm talking/rurhurblurhgbing. Managed to get a real smooth one armed hug in good lord.

 

She's gone. Eventually I'm on the move, text her I'm not trying to impress here but I've successfully boarded a bus, and I'm glad that she did come find me. On the way back I was thinking "well that wasn't terrible" but once I got home and went to bed I did wonder for a few hours.

Yeah, certainly better than my internet dating experiences. I've yet to go on more than one 'date' with a girl from okcupid. That said though, I am back on it again, just avoiding the girls who look too cute to give a fuck about me, haha!

Cool. It definitely helps to have a tour guide while you're here. Atlanta's an awesome city with a great underground EDM scene that's definitely worth checking out, but unfortunately it's one of the least navigation-friendly cities I've ever lived in. The roads change name every 2 blocks and you might be going east for a half a mile and then southwest for 2 miles just by staying on the same street. Also, the mass transit system here blows more cocks than 1236's secret porn stash so it's not even an option.
