Squarepusher (aka the acclaimed project of electro mastermind Tom Jenkinson) will unveil its latest studio album, a nine-track effort titled Shobaleader One: d’DEMONSTRATOR, on October 19th via Warp Records. Squarepusher’s publicist says it’s “unlike anything Tom Jenkinson has done before”, but aside from this teaser trailer, details stop there.

The record will mark Squarepusher’s fourth new release in just three years. Most recently, Jenkinson released Numbers Lucent EP in January 2009 and then followed it up in August with Solo Electric

How is bass-wank on top of drums with dreamy pads "unlike anything he's done before"?

Sorry borry, he's one of my absolute favorite musicians - but he's too caught up in trying to be "a real" musician. The soul in his music died when he started replacing his brilliant synthriffs with jazzy bass-solos. At least for me. Alright, I won't hate anymore in this thread - out of respect.

"Last summer a bunch of kids got in contact with me. They were talking about forming an ensemble, which I thought was a ridiculous idea, but I was impressed by their perseverance, so we met up. The idea was that they wanted the 'fantasy group' I had written about in connection with [my] Just A Souvenir [album] to become a real entity that would record and tour...Part of the idea is that this music is a completely clean break with whatever they've done in the past, so I'm not going to mention any names. I can tell you that they are pretty frightening players." You can check out the artwork and tracklist for d'Demonstrator, along with an album trailer, below."

I am seriously impressed!

that would make sense to Squarepusher presents Shobaleader confusion i guess. i just didn't notice anything collaborative-esque in cryptic motion though.

I'm waiting for the day that Tom's gonna elaborate on the multi-layered 'C-Town Smash' bass style. I really would like him to go all out on the Hendrix style bass playing. With such an expert understanding of sound synthesis I'm wondering why he hasn't gone more far-out. If this is truly a collaboration this may be the perfect vehicle to display that.

i don't like the heavy distortion and the ripping solos, other than that, which there isn't much else, pretty good.
