probably kate bush, she has 3 albums that are pretty much perfect.

It's most probably Autechre... they're the band I've listened to the most over the last few years.

Impossible to name just one. If you can truly name just one then you are either very narrow in your tastes or you have been really lucky and found "the one".

He is good under his alias Bass Communion. I've listened alot to Ghosts on Magnetic Tape by him.

Yeah, Bass Communion is beyond amazing. Some of my favorite drone and ambient musical pieces are composed by him such as 'Drugged' and 'Glacial 1602'.

I usually say Madlib, but in terms of amount of music made that I would enjoy, can't go wrong with John William Coltrane.

Is prince actually that good? I never gave him a listen because he was before my time and his sense of style just turned me off.

I think I might agree with you.

But aside from that, I'm not sure I would call them my favorite artist/band. I just enjoy them a lot and they are great for any mood. So maybe they are my favorite, I don't know. I've just never considered them as such. They are my top-played artist on last.fm, though (since Nov. 2006) so I guess that says something.
