I don't know how I could not go with aphex. The beatles are close, but aphex means more to me. I think if I started to get really into classical music and really start to explore some composer's bodies of work I would probably settle on one, but as far as "recording" artists go I don't think anybody will ever replace RDJ.

Probably Radiohead, also maybe The Beatles. sometimes I just listen to either of those bands and nothing else for weeks at a time. I don't think any other artists can occupy me for so long but then they both have quite a big catalogue at this point.

Richard D. James There is no other artist I could figure would become my favorite regardless of when I started listening to him.

R.E.M. is always up there, but I've known for years that it was purely by chance listening as a kid, subsequent nostalgia, and later appreciation for a few specific albums. To put it succinctly, RDJ is my favorite artist, but R.E.M. wrote some of favorite songs.

I can definitely relate to that. It's an achievement to be diverse yet distinct sounding and such a massive cultural icon. Guess Pink Floyd, Beck, Bowie, and Bjork could arguably be added as well.

I suppose quite a big factor in making an artist one of my favourites is them having released a reasonable amount of stuff. In a way that seems like a stupid reason but in another way it makes perfect sense.

At the time I posted in thread I said Ozric Tentacles. Maybe it's time to update to Steve Roach.
