Minecarts with chests could serve a function like a conveyor belt. Send the materials you gathered back up the track to a collection point.

Yea, conveyor belts exist, I hope to build one from my new house to my bakery. But I'm constantly annoyed with how slow ladders are.

Everyone seems to have such a different view of minecraft. Lately I've wanted there to be power plants (Wind Turbine, Water Wheel, some sort of furnace). The way it would have worked is that mechanics won't work unless there is a powerplant in the area. The power plant would power several chunks in the area. Once chunks were powered THEN you would be able to set redstone torches down.

It'd be so cool to have windmills here and there though. They'd be constructed like portals/golems (not in a craft bench). Stack a bunch of iron blocks on top of eachother, and then manually put pre-made blades on the top.

Everybodies different view on the game is going to be biased by how the prefer to play it. For example most of what I'd like are design and block things for building.

-Stacking different types of slabs on top of each other.

-Able to pick whether the slab is placed on the bottom half or top half of the space you place it.

-Upside down stairs (some way to rotate?) make arches and buttresses look nicer.

-New block types (stone brick was an awesome addition, and the upcoming nether bricks)

-Colored glass panes (use dye on them?)

-Glowstone to illuminate better when behind a glass block.

-Nether brick slab (there are stairs and fence i think but no slab)

-Sandstone stairs.

honestly for any major construction block id like to see slabs and stairs for them. Most already have but some dont. Don't mean like the decorative blocks but just the primary ones.

My oddball wish is for holding a torch to illuminate around you. Though that would make mining a bit easier and less scary so maybe not.

I was never attracted into the building aspect of minecraft, i liked it's feel; the awesome landscapes combined with the mood the music gave it, the thrill of hearing some zombies and trying to find and fight them and finding rare resources. I believe notch isn't much into building stuff and I think his objective is to eventually turn it into a proper game, with a narrative and objectives and stuff..

that's the thing; it's whatever you want it to be. even if notch introduces enchantments and potions and crap doesn't mean you have to use them.

In other news, I'm going to put the google docs link in my signature. I'm tired of looking for it.

My house in murvetown is now a dye and wool shop. Figure since you guys are into making gay rainbows with wool I'll supply you. Have at it.

Also I don't hav emuch white wool, I need a spider trap/farm. The stuff I do have is from going on a sheep cleansing expeditions.
