Boards of Canada What Do You Think Is Behind The New Album Delay?

As the year winds down, it's becoming more and more logical to assume that we will not be getting the new Boards of Canada album by the end of 2010, and an announcement on when it will eventually be released is taking place of that - but let's speculate a bit with some theories (some rational, some not so ) and perhaps some light could be encouraged to shine upon this mystery which for some fans is getting to much of a burden to bear.

maybe they just haven't written that much music over the last 4 years or so that they think is good enough to make an album out of... ?

so, simply they do not have a new album to be released at all??

or maybe they've been preparing for 'the end of the world as we know it', and that's become a much greater priority in their lives (as it would) than making music for Warp.. maybe they've accidentally been burried alive in one of their underground hexagonal bunkers....

I would hope it was in the spirit of bringing something amazing to the table when it is eventually released. Perhaps they just don't make music together anymore and the Boards no longer exist, but i'm sure their archive could keep us happy for years.

I'm sure they haven't finished any tunes yet.

Most likely reason - They're incredibly anal, and after Campfire, they can't release another sub-standard album.

Least likely reason - They fell out with each other as a result of a bizarre sex fest. Believe me, this can tear families apart.

they got old. and thought fuck it we have enough doe to live on now for forever since doing that BMW commercial, we could just work part time in HMV, or a Greengrocer's..

I agree with this. They want the album to be exceptional, and it takes time. The album just isn't ready. Plain and simple.

first thing I thought ofwhen I saw the question was:

they did have a new album ready, but scrapped it because they didn't think it was good enough.

I highly doubt Boards feels Campfire is 'sub-standard'... nor is it!
