what? Kind of a silly thread, but I'm still posting in it.

It seems from his interviews that he's not into "religion" but he does seem "spiritual," insofar as he seems to believe in "something" but has defined for himself what that "something" is. Religion seems inherently flawed because it tries to codify the notion of spirituality, which seems pretty counter to everything Rich has ever said (whether being snarky or serious).

That last interview was awesome, btw. It anything, it seems to reflect someone who has continued to figure out for themselves what is important for them - we should all be so enlightened. It probably helps he's had a chance to pursue what he loves to do without many outward constraints and doesn't have to worry about fixing the car/paying the bills/losing a job/etc though. We should all be so blessed.

i like your ability to define differences T35513R and not just pile everything together. all is revealed in the details.

being spiritual does not entail adhering to any religious dogma. it transcends such. yes, he is smarter than that.

He comes across to me as a man that very much enjoys his freedom and ability to be whoever he wants and do whatever he wants. People like that tend to shun organized religion and tend instead to gravitate more towards relativism. People like this also tend to especially avoid organized religions that actually require certain things of their members. This has been shown in his carefree lifestyle that he has lived throughout almost his entire life.

To those of you that have a general disdain of organized religion in general, I would urge you to consider the following: what bad experience have you had with organized religion that has caused you to feel that way? Also, just because there are so many religions that are obviously false, why do draw the conclusion that ALL of them suck?

I know there are a bunch of WATMMers that are religious, but unfortunately it is the degenerates that don't know what they're talking about that tend to be more vocal in these kinds of threads. Here's to trying to change that.

I've had no bad experience with religion at all. my disdain comes because it's all obviously bullshit and i like to put my faith in things that make sense and i'd like the world to make a bit more sense. all organized religions suck because all of them have beliefs that aren't verifieable, all of them are dogmatic, and most of them are exploitative of their members. and most people that are seriously into their religion want to impose their beliefs in you, and that's a bit anonying, although stuff like this isn't exclusive to religion, there are also some annoying vegetarians and/or hippies out there.

Why do you want to mix up something as good as music with something shite like religion. Admittedly the had a lot to do with each other at one stage. That was a long time ago though.

I agree with Marf. He believes in ACIIIIID

I was raised in a pentecostal church. Funny hair do's. No facial hair on men, no pants on women. Yeah. I have a problem with organized religion. Its a little feudal system where everyone works hard to suck up to and give money to the king and queen (pastor and his wife). Its all about money

...but to believe that there's no God is a special type of idiotism.

...to believe that God is an idiot (doesn't know what he's doing) or that he's evil (leaving people uninstructed/unguided) is idiotism in it's finest form.

NO, i don't think RDJ is THAT stupid...but i doubt he's smart like you.

Rich sold his soul to the devil

Most artists need to do this because music industry tells them to do this if not they get killed this is not a joke. look at luke vibert and others they all do photos with the all seing eye symbolic. all artists from rhianna to jay z from luke vibert to rammnstein from miley cyrus to aphex twin even moby (and moby i always thought is a real nice guy)

note: aphex twin made a few jokes about moby in early interviews from around 1995 or 94 because squarepusher and afx were on tour with moby in one and the same bus its was the nasa tour and they both (squarepusher & aphex) laughed their asses of about moby

A story surfaced recently from a woman who claimed many years ago that Richard blindfolded her, said the bible was a hoax, then made her kneel before a "false idol" and said his god was "Aqua Buddha." It was probably a drug-fueled prank.

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.
