Incunabula

It's emotional , dramatic and overall brilliant.

Incunabula and amber are their best , too bad they didn't stick with that style , I can't get into autechre post amber.

Amber. I bought it at the local shop right when it came out. Never made it out to the club that night because of that album. Took an E pill, and stayed in my bedroom all night long listening to that fucking thing in amazement. It floors me to this day, and will always be my favorite. One of the best records of all fucking time if you ask me, and I guess you did :)

I"d have to go with draft. To me the whole album is some serious future ghetto hip hop head noddin' awespmeness. I'm the opposite of bday. Although I like incunabula and amber, I don't listen to them willingly.

Untilted. It's what got me into them and, in my opinion, it's the most physically brutal of their work.

currently I like Quadrange very much.

I like its darkness and the way it is so complex while building up on a very very minimalistic solid basis

Just got my hands on Quadrange actually... its really great to stick on when I'm working on something, all the tracks are quite lengthy and plunge you into some serious depth.

I have to say my favourite Ae album is between Draft and Oversteps... with a bit of Move of Ten on the side. Its too hard to narrow it down any further.

Gotta go with Chiastic Slide (with Envane as a kind of companion piece), spent a slightly spaced-out winter listening to it when it first came out, practically on repeat the whole time - I think it permanently altered my brain. Must have listened to it literally hundreds of times and I'm still not bored of it.

Oversteps! I really like the counterpoint.

Confield, Untilted and Draft are tied for a very close second.

I cant really remember albums. I never really listen to Autechre unless its at home in my room with some nice headphones. And when I do I just put on the first in my discog and let them play through all the albums and eps.

But for the sake of the thread.

Album: Chiastic Slide

EP: Anvil Vapre

But Ive a soft spot for incunabula as it was the 1st album I got and I remember marveling over it.

I think those are some of Autechre's most emotionally potent moments, VLetrmx is powerful stuff.

But they keep evolving so fast, its takes time to really let each LP sink in.

With Oversteps and some of the more ambient moments of Quaristice they really brought that sensitivity and emotion back in.

Untilted. I think they got the balance just right on that one. It sounds like Stockhausen and Mantronix having a knife fight.

Chiastic Slide blew apart my head when I first heard it. I had never heard anything like it before and it opened up a lot of new doors for me in terms of how I perceived music and sound in general. The effect has sadly faded after dozens, if not hundreds, of listens, but I still remember why I love this album so much every time I put it on.

DRAFT 7.30, MOTHAFUCKA! (and I agree with everything asymmetrical head said in that post of his on the first page)

Tri Repetae was one of the original  wtf ecstatic revelations I had over electronic music and it didn't leave my player for what seemed like years. It portended the future of how every new Ae joint would blow your mind a little differently than the one before it. It doesn't get much recognition on the forum though.

YES. Tri Repetae++ was my introduction to them and I couldn't imagine any other album taking its place like that. To AE virgin ears, when it finally clicks it's the perfect blend of hypnotic machinery and poignant melodies.

it used to be LP5... now, maybe draft. it's their most overtly b-boy album.

this sounds like an airplane landing on a minefield

Chiastic Slide, Confield, Untilted, or Oversteps - depending on mood.

And sometimes Draft 7.30 can seem sublime, too, though it doesn't work for me on all sound systems.
