And sometimes Draft 7.30 can seem sublime, too, though it doesn't work for me on all sound systems.

I somehow agree with this, the high frequency range of Draft seems particular to the system its reproduced on, working better on some than others. My vinyl copy is a bit too 'harsh' on speakers but great through headphones

As for my favorite album, that is such a difficult question, as all of their albums have absolute essential bangers of tracks. For the moment, I would actually say oversteps, for such wonderful consistency. Chiastic Slide and Tri Repetae come so close to stealing my vote though.

I really like Oversteps these days, but I think my favorite might be Draft 7.30. Envane is in there too.

It's pretty difficult to say as all their albums are really great.

Another Chiastic Slider here, though only by the thinnest of margins.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

I'd prolly have to say Untilted... it just oozes everything I love about autechre. After that, LP5, Chiastic Slide, LP5, Quaristice...

probably amber and incunabula.

the rest is too hit-or-miss for me

although I do love songs like Altibzz and Corc, Rae, the albums are too hit-or-miss

Oversteps. Simply because it's their most coherant as an album. I have facvourite single standing tracks outside this album though, mostly from Untilted and Chiastic Slide

foods in the tone of 'go to the fuckin store'

patayda chips

apple cracker thangies

carrots in brown paper bag

amber, because it's kind of timeless to me, in a similay way to old aphex twins.

and then draft 7.30, because it's the album that got me seriously into electronic music

Chiastic Slide: For the indescribable atmosphere of the album as a whole

it's mine too. despite it's rough edges, it has a really light and airy feeling. It's actually a really pretty album to me. Like it's never really intense or serious (Tewe maybe being an exception). Hub to me is like the morning fog in a tropical jungle. Rettic Ac has a really nice ambience in the background of all the sputtery mess. A lot of the album makes me think of wildlife, mostly birds and amphibians.

Pule is one of my favourite sound "departures" in any album. the shift from all the previous tracks to that track is gorgeous, it could've been the end of the album for me (with Nuane moved, not removed). It's some of the most peaceful music i've heard, and one of my favourite electronic tracks in general.

the album as a whole sounds like it was trying to return to the warm, comforting feeling of their first two albums.

i get the same feeling too. Incunabula and Amber are the only ae albums i actually have memories of. Foil and Slip kinda take me back in time.

Chiastic Slide is more than the sum of its parts. Although part of me is still really attached to Incunabula since I heard it first, it's also the easiest listen although that'd probably be considered damning praise on this forum.

'Oversteps' has climbed to the top to me. Very coherent as an album, beautiful, emotional - understated.

I was disappointed with it at first, but now I think it's so special.

must say that all of them have clicked with me bar incunabula... a few nice tracks but i never listen to that one.

i almost don't think of it as autechre. you hear their music now and it's hard to believe they came from the classic IDM "wave"

Bought it on CD for 4 quid yesterday. I really love it.

Confield. I can't believe I'm still hearing new things in it after all these years. Uviol can cure diseases.

Interesting how many people go with Chiastic. It took me the longest to get into, something about the high frequencies on that album kind of makes me uncomfortable. But I do love it, it's probably my favorite autechre to drive to.

hah, i can't really warm up to confield due to high freqs. uviol is great but i haaaaate the pitch of that high timbre. i should just cut it out. eidicktic casio is sort of the same, but i think that's less interesting than uviol.

and call me a fuckktagfaggotface but i really don't like lentic catheter. i just don't.

having said that, i love 6 scones pose, pencil pexers, sim geishha and parhelic triangle (best)

ps - i don't think draft is my favorite, but i think it's the best ae album. don't ask me to define best

Tri Repetae was one of the original  wtf ecstatic revelations I had over electronic music and it didn't leave my player for what seemed like years. It portended the future of how every new Ae joint would blow your mind a little differently than the one before it. It doesn't get much recognition on the forum though.

I feel like this too. it was my first experience with ae and I have fond memories. but gun to my head I'd have to pick untilted. the untilted tour was a force to be reckoned with. pro radii, lcc, sublimit, etc. it's the best to my ae tastes.
