christ, I was thinking "possibly mind blowingly good shit is being played in Rome right now", the short sentences make it sound like it was a bit flat/dull from your view xD

it was not dull, the party was terrific: location was awesome, audio rig was kicking asses and people were definetly having good time. What did't click for me was that the different sets offered little variety and consisted mostly of vanilla flavoured techno, aphex performance was excellent. Best NYE party in years anyways.

I'm talking about what was played since DMX started to mix, since I arrived a bit late at the gig. DMX was spinning techno vinyls, he closed his set with afx's elephant song

Yeah!! and also lightshows and visuals during the aphex performance where excellent! i really enjoyed the party, aphex also played track 2 from analogue bubblebath 5 (i've seen it live at rephlex 2002 rome party, in turin and in barcelona and i've never head that track played live before). Not the best aphex gig (the best has been the 2002 and turin shows) but the one in which I enjoyed more!

DMX Krew played a pretty rubbish show in Glasgow back in end of November... and it was unfortunately rubbish generic house/techno tunes with the faintest whiff of acid here and there but it never delivered (unfortunate contrast to his London Rephresh show I saw, so I can believe Dmx can play either a blinder or a shitter)

 

 

 

 

Every time I've seen Ed he's been fantastic. Perhaps depends on whether he's playing live or DJing?

Nobody said he was not good. Infact I liked his performance, he was very energetic but everybody was obviously waiting for richard to show

Too bad about all the techno then... I appreciate techno but if I were to go to a show like this I would expect to hear braindance! At the very least I would be expecting Ed to play electro. I guess they were going for an old-school Rephlex vibe.

The aphex set does sound good... at least the videos that are for sure aphex. Some of the far back shots are Lory D/Max Durante I think, unless they reused the same visuals for both sets.
