genetic algorithm car physics (update: version 2!)

what i´ve experienced is, that they cant climb high hilla. So instead of 250 it stops at 370

But then again I´m just at generation 8.

this one made it to 452.

it looks like 4 wheels may be the optimal number.

i love when it makes a 0-wheeler and it just sits there like a retarded lump.

i hate it when they are moving along ok but it resets for no reason.

that happens when you reach the maximum distance for the level (which is pretty low on the early levels). it does seem unnecessary.

^It's closer to a screensaver than a game, as the only things you do are control the mutation rate & vote whether or not the current randomly generated car is actually a good car or just a bad car that got lucky.

What does the "freq" slider do?

controls how frequently you'll get that number of wheels.

ah yes well now that makes sense. Got to 470 a few times but never got past the crag of death. Left computer running tonight, on gen 27 now

I'm on generation 77 with the default parameters and it's still spitting out large proportions of retards. You'd think two-wheelers that don't work upside down would have been flushed out by now. Got a maximum over 500 a few times though, and there's still a generally increasing trend in the mean.

306 generations and they're steadily going downhill.

Wish they could evolve more torque, or that the time limit of 3 s to get "unstuck" could be made less strict.
