I agree with this. Cept Ive been a fan the whole time, never stopping or taking a break.

If Thome wasnt doing this stuff people who claim hes out of the loop and what not. At least I know he still has a passion for music and is on the same wave length as me.

Im not saying this is going to be great or even good, but at least hes on as up to date as the rest of us music nerds. He has a passion and I appreciate that.

You don't seem to remember your idol's name properly for a huge fan.

Im a fan of music. Where did I say idol?

You said it with your eyes, chassis. you said it with your eyes.

That said, I largely agree with the thoughts expressed in your now well-nested quote.

This seems a little bit contrived.

We all know Thom Yorke wants to be like Aphex Twin, but we already have lots of Aphex Twins and Squarepushers.

What does this have to do with him collaborating with DOOM?

Oh, cynical WATMM. Thank God for our highly refined taste which allows us to "understand" such complex, esoteric music that sounds like my lawnmower and microwave gang-banging a hyena. Otherwise how would we attract a suitable mate?

I think it's probably just because many people here have had RH on their minds/in their stereos recently due to King Of Limbs just coming out. Any other time and you probably wouldn't have hit a big patch of Radiohead defenders (myself respectfully excluded from that - as previously stated in the thread I don't think they're above making bad music...)

I think I might be the first person to say this in this thread, but I actually don't really like MF Doom so I'm not sure about this. I'm a Thom Yorke lover but I think working with a rapper might be very restrictive. Also I'm quite confident a whole album won't happen, maybe a track or two.

im buying into this. but i think if thom just helps make beats and does a few choruses, it should work great. i dont see how a whole album of this wouldnt feel like the same song over and over. id be happy with a 4-5 song ep with few rap tracks and an instrumental or two.

An "album" format might work if it's a lot of short tracks of medleys. Madvillainy was awesome because it was 22 tracks in 46 minutes...most rap albums with that many songs are 2 discs of a couple of singles and a plethora of filler.

But yeah, anything beyond an EP is very unlikely, based on Doom's track record. Still waiting for Swift & Changeable and Madvilliany 2 and not expecting anything but a live recording on CD-r of a Doom impersonation concert.

Thom Yorke is like the Madonna of contemporary electronic music, he just latches onto whatever he thinks is popular/up and coming and desperately tries to become a part of it. Like when Tom J was being interviewed on BBC and then all of a sudden Yorke pops up out of nowhere because hes a fan boy. IMO The new burial/fourtet collab sounds like he knocked on the door the studio and was like "Woah! Killer track mates Ive GOT to record some vocals over this!", and they just let him because he could potentially further both of their careers with of the type of exposure he brings to the table.

It's all a conspiracy. You only enjoy music because an artist wrung his hands, let out a sinister cackle, and plotted to make you enjoy it. :spiteful:

love doom and radiohead/thom. could be incredible, could be awkard. who knows.

btw anyone considered the fact one could simply be producing? it might not be a vocal album at all? i hope they aren't both rapping/singing on tracks because that would probably sound a mess. then again, could work out and blow my mind. could go anywhere.

no. this is just ridiculous in so many ways. Madonna was all over MTV and was a megastar. thom is not on MTV, in magazines or anything. he is not latching onto anything either. he is a fan of music and obviously a lot of electronic music. and he likes to collaborate with artists he enjoys. what is so hard to understand about that. there is no conspiracy to promote himself by doing any of this. he is a music fan and likes making different types of music. it's that simple.

If evidence emerges that RDJ counter-offers and collaboration or remix for Thom Yorke by requesting samples of him making noises with his genitalia and general bodily functions, I will look into the Madonna comparison.

Thom's apparently not very nice in person because he's a shy, somewhat off-putting and dull person outside of his close circle of friends and colleagues. Madonna lacks sincerity and tack, I've never heard her praise anyone in a humbling manner, and she recruits artists to write and produce her music. Thom has literally plugged or praised every single person he's worked with beforehand, and it's never to jump on trends. Put it this way, every single hit Madonna has had emulated to whatever genre of dance and electronic music was breaking out after the fact. She's never actually drawn any people or styles into the mainstream, just leeched of it. Piano-house - vogue, poppy "electronica" - ray of light, blog house - hung up on you new wave - "like a virgin" etc.
