Aphex Twin New Aphex Twin Album shocker

Just popped down the shops to get supplies and had a quick look at the shitty Q Magazine as apparently there's a review of Chosen Lords in it. At the end there was a quick Q&A section where they asked him when he's gonna do a new Album. He says that he's just finished his next album but he's probably not gonna release it as he can't be arsed to do the artwork for it. That little joker :grin:

if that's true, why would he even bother rehashing analord for the cd market...?

surely he'd just put out the new album instead of flogging some old rope.

Some dude on That Other Site™ said he was going to scan it in. That's how I knew to look in there in the first place, they seemed to like it though from what I remembered.

I'm sure I read somewhere on the internet that Dick had a new album coming out in May, called Gahr or Gaba or something?

i wouldnt be surprised by non-analord forthcoming releases like noise, acousmatic or harpsichord tunes (but i need bit of time to digest all the analords)

I recall one interview where Richard said he has enough money, and that he MIGHT release stuff for free on the web because he is down with DLing stuff for free. That'll never happen because he knows if he takes a crap ona stick it'll sell.

As venetian put it, "Selling my music is a mutilation of its true intent."

i remember RDJ saying that music should not be a commodity and he was considering putting music up for free as well as selling a DAT full of his old stuff, it seems that this legendary decision never came through when all was said and done. to say the least i'm a little disappointed mostly because Richard went back on such an important decision.

Richard's said a great many things in interviews... by the way, here's the full text of that interview:

Q: It's been five yrs since Drukqs - what happened?

RDJ: "I just got back from an expedition to Antartica with

some friends. I've got sunburn under my chin."

Q: Did using analogue machines for yor Analord releases

bring back any memories of your rave days?

RDJ: "Yes, but I use this stuff all the time and it always

does that. The equipment has it's own smell."

Q: Were the Analord tracks recorded in the bank?

RDJ: "Yes. Like any place it puts you in a certain frame of

mind. I record in the vaults a lot and other parts of the

building have been wired up for use as echo chambers."

Q: A lot of the reverb effects have a dream like and

melancholic quality....

RDJ: " I tried quite hard not to make the tracks too

intense. There was a gap in my music listening collection I

wanted to fill. There are actually about five times as many

unreleased Analords from the last few years that will

probably never come out, but I still want to make more.

Actually, talking about it is getting me excited again."

Q: So we won't have to wait another five years for the next

Aphex album?

RDJ: "I just finished one but it probably won't be released.

Why? I can't be bothered to do any artwork."
