Id be up for yoga too if the classes weren't so damned expensive.

I really need to figure out what my game plan is to bulk up my body. Ive reached this plateau where I see increases in strength and the amount of weight I am able to lift, but my body looks exactly the same. I don't understand this? Surely there must be growth happening somewhere? I am starting to worry that I am not eating enough, or taking enough time in between workouts. Ive toned down my cardio....apparently I weigh even less than I did a month ago...that's not good news.

Any suggestions as to what's going wrong? Or am I worrying unnecessarily?

Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, nobody wants to lift no heavy-ass weights.

All of the big guys used power lifting to increase bulk. You probably need to cut back on the cardio and eat a lot more if you want to bulk up.

This video is both hilarious (cameraman) and awesome as fuck - the old dude in the video is insanely strong!

Been trying to get on my 3 times a week run schedule again, because I plan on doing a half marathon next year.

My running shoes are pretty old and I desperately need new ones, my so told me recently about barefoot runners and some quick research showed that less to no padding in shoes is way better for your knees, feet etc.

Will get some advice in a decent running store with my next paycheck, but has anyone on here tried out the "natural running" shoes asics and nike offer? The Virbram fivefingers seem a little bit too extreme..

I spent half an hour in a running shop doing a diagnostic and they recommended something with a lot of support. 2 months, 1 knackered knee and 20 blood blisters later I switched to Nike Free 4.0 V2. Takes some adjustment, but much prefer them. They're so comfortable I've ended up wearing them all the time. Don't look so great with my lilac chinos though.

Holy shit, that sounds pretty scary. I tried the Nike Free too, but they felt too weird for my feet. ended up getting the Vibram new balance,

PAMIIBGHBHGLGFKF.jpg

We tested them with their diagnostic thing too and it looked fine (I´m stil a neutral). I´ve been doing long distance running for more than ten years now and I think I never had shoes that felt that good. But it´s still a huge change for my running style, my muscles were pretty sore after the first week , especially my feet. (and I didn´t do more than 5km per training)..

Try out the New Balance minimus line. They offer varying degrees of cushioning so you can ease your way down to an almost barefoot experience.

Sounds like you don't need to wait till next year. I did my first half marathon this year and had very little time to prepare, or train (and still made a good time). You can do it brah.

All numbers for the Berlin half-marathon this year in october were already sold out, so I have to wait until April next year anyway, but thanks! I´m aiming for under 2 hours..dunno if that´s a bit too far fetched :cerious:

Yeah they really force you to readjust your running style - your calves are developing new stabilizer muscles. But yeah for sure it makes running like a whole new thing.

yeah, not doin that. shits retarded. i dont have the money to eat 5000 calorie meals.

ive been reading up on this, and found some interesting information regarding improving muscle memory via the CNS....basically assumedly small people can be able to lift far more than more muscular physiques by exploiting CNS muscle memory. i made another increase in inverse curls, even though my arms look exactly the same.

i sorta like this idea. its like if i get put into a corner by some big guy looking to fight, i might be able to pull out super saiyan strength from my lanky frame.

I think maybe you're right! (not that I know you well enough personally)... That is actually pretty common, psychologically. I think that's why so many people quit after making a new years resolution, because they don't see results.

Fact is, you see yourself in the mirror every day right? You won't notice the results like other people. I've been working out quite a bit for the last 3 years, and I've started develop a complex because I don't see my results like other people do. Maybe a similar phenomenon for you?

Yeah there has to be something to this matter.. I, like you, don't make gains easily.. I don't grow in size much at all.

But I can't tell you how many times i've been in the gym lifting seriously heavy weights and see some guy probably twice my size in the corner struggling with less.. probably a lot of factors here (diet? a lot of people eat shit, and no doubt it probably affects performance)..

thought I'd pop in with a progress update. absolutely SHATTERED a record yesterday, for military press (95x7). a month ago i could barely do that at 10 pounds less. I'm quite happy with the way this commitment has been going

Well, broke my wrist. No biking for me for awhile. No good... Makes getting to work a real pain, and makes doing my job just as difficult. Oye.

I was going fast and the next thing I knew I was on the ground. The only thing I can imagine happened was that my chain slipped ( it's been doing that, I was actually going to take it in for a tune up today) and caused my bike to wobble and at my speed just threw the bike out from under me. Lucky I didn't get hit my all the cars around me honestly.

im gonna be honest and say that im down to 3 days of exercise a week. this semester has been really taxing thus far. but staying roughly the same on weights, cardio increasing ever so slightly. gaining weight of course.

have kind of slowed down myself these past two weeks. i moved into an apartment in a crowded area. i'm kind of nervous to go jogging on the street, where I will have to pass by people. I like jogging outside a shitload more than anything at the gym.

so I've been doing yoga and just like, body weight stuff. I just need to make myself sweat at least 3 or 4 times a week until I get back to something more serious. yoga is absolutely amazing. i never realized.

as for diet, i've decided to transition to a 100% vegan diet. it might take a while but i'm genuinely dedicated to making it work. my body can't seem to handle meat anymore, for whatever reason. it just fucks up my stomach, and i want to feel pure. i need to know in my subconscious mind that i don't have to worry. i just need to drop the meat and dairy, and purify. it makes a huge fucking difference. i might do something to cleanse my digestive system... I'm really excited about these changes. I've lost 20 lbs the past 2 months.

i just did my first tripod headstand!! well, not a full one, but i lifted my legs up onto my arms. i was worried about my balance so i didn't position my legs right behind me, but hell, just lifting them up and balancing on my head & arms is way more than i was previously able to do.

i'm makin' progress :) it's amazing. three months ago, i couldn't do a crescent lunge for more than a couple of seconds and now i can hold it through a flow sequence. for anyone looking for a fun & easy way to get into shape, i definitely recommend yoga! i do it 3-6 times a week and it's totally worth the cash/time investment.

Changed my running style to forefoot strike recently and the transition is almost over (my calves burn less after 2km lol)

I'm trying to go running an hour every day...so far I finished 2 days.

A quick questions for you guys, what are the best multivitamin supplements (in your opinion), i have been using centrum (the most popular i guess).

This is what i'm taking at the moment: Centrum multivitamins, Pronutrients Omega-3 and Pronutrients Fruit and Veggie. (Plus Muscle Milk after workouts)

Is there something that i'm missing? what combinations of supplements would you guys recommend?

I've decided to have a month off of drink in January which should kick start me into getting a program going with regards to weights. I only do a half hour 3/4 days per week and it's always on machines. I should be doing frees but it's just what I'm used to. So I'm looking forward to that. My brother's doing a half marathon on Sunday through London which I'm regretting not getting involved with. He managed to raise £3k.

glad to see people are still hard at it.

because of my now increasingly hectic schedule, I do a two hour workout once a week...seems to yield better results than before.
