Guest A/D
I would read up on the forefoot strike, my friend! I don't run because I suck at it, but learning that has made me more likely to attempt it in the future. So much less impact on my feet & ankles. Plus your calves get crazy strong. I want to strengthen my body, not cripple it! what kind of running shoes do you have? A forefoot strike is easier if you have neutral or minimal running shoes. Also running unshod when training for the first time makes the transition a lot easier. delet...
yeah i run on the forefoot as well. But then again i always did. Always seemed weird to me, people clunking around on their heels and now apparently according to the magic of science i was right all along !! It might have something to do with the fact that i used to get around in bare feet as a kid, so you sortov had to run on the front of your feet as you had no artificial impact protection. Also, as to wrecking your knees through too much running chen. I was reading in the new scientist or something a couple of years back that they have revised their thinking on that. As a study at the time found that older runners actually had healtier joints or no worse, than the average population. And better hips. Guest ZeroHour
I've read that for improving cardio, high intensity interval training trumps any other methods. its where say you do 1 minute jogging, 30 second full sprint, 1 minute jogging, 30 second full sprint..you just gradually increase the ratio of sprint:jog and how many intervals you do, it'll kick your ass for sure Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67217-do-you-work-out/page/44/#findComment-2004245 Share on other sites

Hugh Mughnus
I'm back on the p90x program. This time though I'm committed to doing every workout and doing it at the pace of the video, without pausing it. So far it's pretty challenging and I've had to use less weight or reps than before. Will post back if I get some decent results. kcinsu
Just finished a run. I tried really hard to run forefoot but it's true, it's hard with normal running shoes. I tried to be conscious to land in the middle of my foot though, instead of the heal. I did the whole 20 minutes today and it felt great! Definitely easier to run in 55 degrees instead of 75, and I avoided hills. I'll work up to those. Cryptowen
I run & lift weights & I wanna get into a yoga class (or something for flexibility) when I get settled in Montreal (no point joining one now & dropping out in 6 weeks I reckon) Learning to dance is also high up on my list because I feel it would add a whole new dimension to music appreciation/composition/generally having more rhythm Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Cryptowen's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/67217-do-you-work-out/page/44/#findComment-2005094 Share on other sites

spratters
I had no idea either. I'm getting a pain on the right side of my right foot when I apply pressure to it after this weeks running. It's very odd, I can't figure what's wrong? Can you pull a muscle at the side of the foot? Blir
Anyone else use Endomondo? It's a cool app that tracks your workouts via GPS and gives you a load of statistics on your workout, calorie burn, average pace etc. Great for people running or cycling like myself. I've started using it the last three weeks or so and it's great! http://www.endomondo.com If anyone uses it let me know your email so I can add you! It's great and motivating to see other peoples workouts. Here's a small overview of my stats: Pretty neat! I did one round and felt good, but I didn't really start to see results until round two (now). My back is where I see it the most though, becuase I couldn't do many chin ups initially maybe only one or two, now I'm at about 60 or 70 reps per workout. I want to get a six pack on my back and scare my neighbors when I cut my grass without a shirt this summer. If you have a P90X account on the site beachbody send me your nickname and I'll add you for the next round, we can help each other through. Later. It tracks your movement with GPS, no need to stay on roads. Unless you don´t run at all?
