stupid first world problems you're dealing with

a few weeks ago I was curious about getting a lawn treatment service, so I submitted a request for a quote on true green's website. I knew what I was doing would have repercussions...but holy hell I had no idea how bad it would be. right away I started getting the automated text blasts trying to get me to tell them a good time to call. I ignored these. there was no STOP option. then I learned through negative online reviews that there would be a 1yr contract involved, which is no go zone for me right there. so I am no longer interested... some pushy sales guy calls a few days later. I was polite and told him I wasn't interested due to the contract, he kept asking me dumb questions, I told him bye and hung up. then another guy calls me a few days later, essentially trying to sell me again the same service. I told him I already declined, and to please not call any more. now I get these random calls from a variety of area codes that I ignore, because I usually know who will be calling me (and um caller ID), and can only assume it is more of these lawn service sales people. just now another guy calls me, and I had to take a deep breath to not hit the fan when he said he's calling from true green. jfc I hate sales so much.

got real drunk last night and woke up with blood splattering my jeans -- bear with me here, i didn't commit a crime -- and was quite confused about what happened.

my upstairs neighbor (hereby "MUN") is currently making a ton of noise, which caused me to look at the ceiling just now. there's blood up there, too. it seems he must have been making a racket at 4am or whenever i tried to pass out and i got pissed enough to slam the ceiling with my fist more than once. i also apparently used a large piece of lumber to bash the ceiling a few times, and there are now some pretty serious dents up there. oops. goodbye deposit.

i regret nothing (except the existence of MUN)

this shit works... even on ceilings. just get some ceiling paint which is always that same shit flat white stuff.   

well i just managed to actually get to MUNs apartment. i didn't handle it very well.

he came home to blast some shitty music REAL FUCKING LOUD and i couldn't take it so i went to the door that leads upstairs and for once it was unlocked, i went upstairs, and lo! his apartment door wasn't even closed. i didn't knock (man this shit irritates me), just put my fist into the door and opened it. two dudes looking scared as fuck on the couch lol. told them to turn it down "just a little fucking bit" with what was no doubt a pure you're-dead look in my eyes. they turned it down (i can, ofc, still hear it).

should have taken alco's advice instead of making an enemy out of myself but man this shit fills my soul with the fury of a thousand hells

I'd probably keep a plasma rifle in the 40kw range and sawed-off Winchester 1887 handy just in case - preferably one that can be wielded one-handed.

Bonus points for sunglasses and biker jacket.

bro, I really wish I had that kind of money lying around. I'd be doing it in a flash. Shit got really expensive in the last few years. But more than that it's the animals; even buying that plot of land wont bring back a deer family that came there every early morning for their 'breakfast'. I am honestly considering buying a bluetooth blocker. They are illegal as fuck as they also block out cellphone signals, but it should make my summers a lot easier when people decide to have garden parties.

if you go over the fence and dig a little hole under it.. like real small.. the width of one fence board.. the critters will find their way in there and use it as a pass thru or to go in and make their little nests and burrows.  if there's skunks in your woods they will go in there for sure if there's a thing and go under and make a den in spring. 

came home last night to find the power in half in the apartment mysteriously went out. no power to anything in the kitchen, the bathroom, half the outlets in the bedroom, or any of the wall heaters.

called them and got a visit from the utterly helpless wife, classic damsel - not trying to be offensive here but she is 100% a rich girl who inherited this building from her attorney father and then married an absolute POS 20 years her senior for whatever fucking reason and lets him manage the place. I figured it was a tripped breaker and asked if they could tell me where the box is so I can try it. nope, I'm not allowed, it's locked. anyway, she can't figure it out, it apparently wasn't the breaker. she has her husband on the phone asking if I, the tenant, know how to reset a GFCI. GTFO, old man. 

she gives me $20 to buy ice to keep my food cold. how out of touch can someone be? lol

they can't get a hold of their electrician, he's apparently gone on a ski trip. the husband POS landlord is in Hawaii until Saturday. can't make this shit up.

so I have three days of no heat, no cooking, showering in the dark, all my lamps running to a single power strip. 

that is most definitely illegal in this state but where would I even go? at least I can document it so I can throw it at them if I want to break the lease.

Here I'm on the top bunk so I have no access to power outlets... So I always bring a 5 meter long power extension with me with four or five sockets... Turns out it is forbidden, forbidden like if anybody finds it I get a written warning, after the second I'm fired... We have cabin inspection every week and I never bothered to hide it or anything and never got into any trouble... Until now... This new roommate (professional musician, fuck off get a real job...) complain about it cause he was afraid we might get into trouble when inspection came... So now, everytime I need to charge my phone, I have to climb up and down the bunk bed if I wanna use it... Not to mention my laptop, which the battery doesn't long more than 45 minutes top... I'm lucky that some years ago my laptop charger broke so I found an old one, wired both cables, and now my laptop charger is almost 5 meters long... And that apparently is not forbidden cause it's just a really long laptop charger... Still pisses me off cause with the power sockets on my top bunk I could plug my phone, laptop, charge my in ear phones and a bunch of other things...乁⁠(⁠ ⁠⁰͡⁠ ⁠Ĺ̯⁠ ⁠⁰͡⁠ ⁠)⁠ ⁠ㄏ

not sure. will find out next week unless they are able to get to it  tomorrow.  it's not necessarily a simple system. there's like a bowl/tank up top then a radiator tucked behind plastic in the front but all kinds of other shit in there not seen unless all the plastic covers are removed. shit i don't have the will to deal with or understanding to know how to fix if i find the problem. modern cars, even one from 2004, is still more complex than older things that just have a water pump, radiator and some hoses.  

he told me that a lot of the cooling system is made of some kind of plastic so was probably just ready to break after 19 years.. so.. we'll see. he said it's rare for it to be the radiator w/this car (2004 VW golf/vr6) so hopefully that means it's something simpler and less expensive.. but i'm not trying to get my hopes up. for some reason i think i'll feel lucky if it's under $1k.  but worst case i'll get told "your engine is cracked in half.. gotta replace the whole car" or something.

the shocks are in need of replacing for 2 years now.. they work and aren't leaking but sometimes a bump has that feel like the strut is gonna pop up through the front fender... and last week i hit a series of small bumps in a row while slowing down and the car just like slammed repeatedly in a weird rhythm. i think that may have done the trick of breaking something and causing the leak. 

had to top off the coolant twice. it didn't overheat or anything though.. thermostat stayed right where it always is.

Actually I'm having the best contract ever... Big cabin with porthole, free fast speed internet, doing a lot of guests excursions for free that cost 70 or 80 bucks to guests, lots of snorkeling, tomorrow some waterfalls and more snorkeling... Been using public transportation to find cool places mostly beaches with the aid of google maps (one of the best things invented ever)... Lots of smoothies and fresh local fruit juices... Mostly cheap stuff everywhere... Over nights in some countries which allow me to score some weed... In 1 month we're gonna do the crossing to Haifa, Israel, and that will be our turnaround port for 5 or 6 months until we get back to the Caribbean again... I'm gonna try to come back to this ship cause when it gets back to the Caribbean it will stop several times in Colombia and I wanna dig some old Colombian cumbia records over there...

Here's a video of an island I was 2 days ago, went all by myself in public transportation, what would cost around 100 bucks to a guest excursion cost me around 10 bucks, i love  backpacking...

Had 4 weeks off work with the most satanic chest infection. It was savage. My chest, throat and lungs seemed like they were covered in thick, gloopy but fizzy slime. Totally horrendous. Would of had less time off work IF one could quickly seen and be examined by a bloody doctor FACE TO FACE. Instead of dicking about one week hoping it would go away, then into second week and dicking about with NHS direct, then another week being assessed via a telephone appointment (antibiotics too weak). Then finally seeing a doctor and getting a proper diagnosis and proper hardcore medicine to deal with it. Finally just as it it started to subside and I was back to work then on Sunday a few weeks ago my sis and nephew came round and he sneezed and spluttered into my face (niiioce) and I get casually told ‘oh Leo’s had a real serious cold this week’. Yeah? Thanks for telling me and my severely weakened immune system. Do I need to tell the rest? In total 6 weeks of feeling like a medieval cesspit. Whats next???!!

other than covid.. RSV is going around. gnarly infection.. but also the flu is pretty wicked this year at least it is over here.  i had 2 colds in 5 weeks or so. one kind of mild and the other one ass kickingly shitty.

Yeah this savage infection has knocked a lot of folk off their feet. Just didn't need the avoidable cold at the tail end of it. What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger right?

that's the theory but damn.. there was a few days when i was a sliver of myself just trying to cope w/all the symptoms. and one night i took the robitussin DM and only about 30 minutes later did i look on the drugs.com interaction checker to see that it has a MAJOR interaction with one of my medications because of the DM and then i tried to puke it all up but was too late so i had a pretty wild ride that night. oops.

haha yeah those "wild rides" with non intoxicating prescription drugs are intense. a few months ago I had to take a prescription drug for a viral infection, which on the label says MAY interact negatively with alcohol, but didn't say DO NOT drink alcohol. since I grew up actively looking for the shit that would add to your buzz, I drank some wine, threw a thc gummy down the hatch for good measure, and took the medicine. wrong move. within an hour I could tell something was not right, like my thoughts I was having were not my own. I became transfixed on every single second of reality passing by, like obsessed on paying attention to the passage of time. like laser sharp focus. I passed out then woke up a little while later and it was like someone else had taken over my body entirely. I couldn't get my mind back to "me." I didn't sleep after that, just rode it out like some bad acid trip. this was all 100% my fault, so I accepted the consequences. that shit took like almost a day to wear off. lesson learned haha.
