Well I don't have twitter and I don't plan on signing up there either. It's the manifestation of 21st century internet short attention span mindset for me  Not so say that it can't be useful, but I don't like the concept of it and I did get the news from here didn't I ... But then again, I only just signed up for facebook a few weeks ago in order to create an event to invite my friends to. I guess I'm not a good representation.

hate twitter and the whole 'tweeting' thing. only just signed up for facebook recently too, and that's a pile of shit aswell ! (mostly)

i really am not interested in seeing what somebody i knew at school and haven't seen in years is up to! there's a reason i haven't seen most of these people since school ! same goes for anybody i haven't seen in the last year or so really, there's a reason !

i don't particularly like you and/or we have nothing whatsoever in common other than going to the same school !

if you have something to sell/promote, tho, then i can understand why you might be 'tweeting' about that...

just can't stand all the people who tweet/post about all the boring, meaningless, insignificant shit in their lives. - does my head in !

Well I do like to see what my friends are up to ... I never added the kinda people I just knew from school, I add the ones I like to talk to and do stuff with. I don't like those 300-friends-profiles either but you sound kinda bitter ...

I got a bunch of friend requests when i first signed up, from random people i hadnt seen in years, and i didn't know anything about how FB works then. and being fairly polite i added these people, not knowing that all they really were was just nosey people who only wanna see what you're doing now... and what your face looks like now.

so now i have to see all their boring status updates all the time... unless i delete them as a 'friend', but that's just rude, and dickish, plus i think they will notice that they're down a friend when they check their numbers, lol... and then they will be all like 'fuck that guy, he took me off his friends, the prick'...

so, that's it really. it's not being "bitter", it just annoys me seeing some of the shite that people post. so i hardly go on there anymore and never post any 'status updates' or anything.

.......anyway, let's get back to the VHS Head music! :)

Edited by sirch

Haha, I actually think y'alls mindsets are quite sane when it comes to the friendface and twiddles - plan on holding out on both as long as possible (if not forever)

WATMM pretty much fulfills most all of my vhs news needs anyway :sup: - thanks for the link to the soundcloud, quite an awesome track!

@sirch: I don't have obvious photos on FB and I don't use my real name either, I only give out the name to people I meet offline or who I want to invite to a private film premiere party or something. Maybe that's the secret.

I had the creepiest experience with this track last night - A friend of mine was over for dinner and we watched some League of Gentlemen episodes. By the end of the first season it was kinda late and she didn't wanna go on the bus alone as she lives in some bad neighborhood and my best friend got attacked by some Russian dickhead kids there some months ago. So I got on the bus with her and took my bike with me to ride back home on. Once we had gotten off the bus in that weirdo-neighborhood, I felt kinda uneasy. I'm usually not scared by such things, I'm often in some bad areas and I'm a big guy, but this was just odd. There was noone around and it had rained earlier so the streets were all wet and reflecting the tacky neon signs of "Mega-Bet", "Gobo-Gambling" and "Palazzo Internet" and some other sleazy looking shops and tanning salons. And you'd hear the water dripping off the trees around.

After a while I said to my friend "The hell's with this part of town you're living in, you getting this ultra-bad vibe as well, even though there's noone here and it's totally quiet?" and she tells me she's used to it. Then we walked past some fenced property that's certainly abandoned and has signs that say "Military Training Area - No Trespassing - Risk of Death" etc. I notice some strange smell coming from that property, so I ask "You smell that? I think it's sulfur, it's coming from that military thing" and she tells me "That's really strange. I think like 20 years ago there was a fire on that military thing and the whole town smelled of sulfur - but that's long gone" - so at this point I am getting creeped out by it all, plus I'm starting to hear faint voices in between the drops from the trees. They could have been coming from somewhere far away and being reflected in an odd way, or I could have mis-heard the dripping as whispering of sorts. Still creepy. So once I dropped her off at her doorstep, I jumped my bike to get the hell out of this weirdo haunted town, put on my headphones to listen to the new and cool VHS Head Track I hadn't played before to distract me - et voila - You can imagine how badly that voice in the beginning sent chills down my back.

Here's the exact sight I had the second I hit play (took this photo in '08):

I think I'll call this place the Midnight Section from now on.

Cool story and photo bro (and no that's not me being sarcastic ! :flower: )

Regarding that photo, I've been trying to get that bluish look on my SLR when taking night photos by can't seem to quite get that appearance. Any tips/settings ? (I'm thinking there's some colour cross-processing on post)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Yes there is some color editing. The reason you can't get those blue night colors is cause they don't exist ;) The darker it gets, the less color there is, so we pretty much see black and white at night, but for some reason our brain tends to interpret that as having a blue tint. Probably down to some chemical processed I don't understand. Ever took a long exposure shot of a landscape being lit by a full moon? The picture never comes out blue, it looks just the same as sunlight. Kinda disappointing ... especially cause films make us think those night-colors are actually blue.

You CAN set up your camera's white balance so that you get blue tinted pictures, but there isn't really a point in doing so as it's better to have a neutral color and change that to whatever color you want in post production. The exact color edit I did on this picture was a curve-correction: I lowered the reds and boost the blues in the darker spectrum and let the brighter spectrum untouched (in order to leave the streetlights as yellow as they were), no masking is necessary for this. I did however additionally put a black semi-transparent color gradient over the upper part of the picture in order to make the sky look more like night. Don't know why but the mood is better that way.

I just did a little dance when I saw this thread. Great news, and perfect timing too - I've been listening to Trademark Ribbons a lot these past few days and kept thinking,

it's time for a new release - and here it is! He seems to have a bit of a thing for autumn like myself. All his releases have been September-releases so far, which I think

is the most fitting month for his tunes anyway. I remember my birthday last year when I played TROG while taking my first ride on my new bicycle, immediately crashing it and

destroying part of the front wheel. It was great.

Is there any way to pre-order a physical release yet? I'm interested in the CD version, given that there will be one. I guess it's a bit optimistic to assume it would arrive on time

for my birthday on the 15th, or do skam post their stuff so they arrive on the day of release? But I'm in Germany anyway, so it'd be a close call.

Also lol:

What's so funny? Those are all valid opinions.

Advocate's opinion is certainly not valid at all - he hates it so much, yet he hasn't heard any samples? lame.

Trademark Ribbons of Gold was my favourite last year's album. I was a little worried that we wouldn't see any other VHS head release because no-one heard of it appart from here, but seems we are getting a new one. Great news!

We oughta spread the word some more outside of watmm and we'll get even more. I already made the Lifter-Video and infected my friend, your turn. :derp:

I've been spreading the word, been to a bit of a 'un-conference' over the weekend (basically a big open source software thing) and was talking to loads of audio engineers and stuff, been spreading the word there, and of course all over my Twitter and Google+ account.

as for the album not really being heard by anyone apart from people here, I think you underestimate Skam's brand a little...certainly VHS Head is still a bit underground at the moment, but he's definitely not unheard. And to be honest, I quite like the fact that he's a bit underground...call me a hipster for it, I don't give a fuck.

Siege Express and Growler Spit U Out are eerily similar it seems. Oh well, more VHS Head, fuck yes!

hmm only similar because of one sample, really. I'm being defensive because Growler Spit You Out reminded me heavily of this track
