Slow down there. "What's the evolutionary purpose of x?" is a pretty standard way of asking "how did it come about that x evolved?", and given that we tend to think sexual desire evolved due to it's tendency to make babies, it a little puzzling how it came about that there are people who's sexual desire does not tend to make babies.

Obviously there are loads of possible explanations. And, since I believe that gay people exist, and I believe in evolution, I'm sure that one of those theories is true. It may be pretty naive to think that you'll get the true explanation by asking on an internet message board. But I don't think it's a dumb question to be curious about in general.

Unless, of course, he's a social Darwinist and he's trying to imply that, because gays don't further the flourishing of the human population they are bad. But I don't think that's what he's doing here.

Exactly. I think this might actually be worse. I think everyone knows Palin was nothing but a show pony. This Bachman bitch is focused though. It definitely comes across. What is so bad about that is that people actually see her as a viable candidate.

Also, I do agree with the lot of you saying that the less exposure she is given, the better. I felt the same way when I saw the crazy-eyed Newsweek cover of her in the store...

At the end of the day, it really didn't help Sarah Palin's chances to have the national conversation shift from "This Palin lady is pretty good" to "This bitch is a fucking nutcase". then why don't we have threads like 'why is every US president a mass murderer' or 'President Obama is an evil murderer' , if it's so obvious to everybody then why does the board mostly just spew hatred or vitriol in the direction of the easiest target, the group of predictable shrill republicans that crop up every 4 years. We voted this man into office and now he's horrible, but yeah lets just talk about Bachman.

edit: and just a slight correction of what you said, not all presidents have killed children with robots. Only 2 so far, George W and Obama. :)
