Saw it yesterday, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Touched much more on the ''philosophical'' aspects than the original, but lacked the Neo Tokyo aesthetics a bit. That is not to say that is wasn't beautiful, because it was - I was just praying for a full-blown live action of Akira ft. Harrison Ford.

I've read they were trying to show Russia had risen to a more global dominant position by 2049, hence the Russian hookers, logos, ballet dancer, etc.

I saw it again once last final time at the the theatre today. I'll probably never get the chance to see it on a really big screen again. be sad to see it go.

I thought this was from Vladimir Nabokov's Pale Fire, oder?

Here's a shot from the 2049 book where Gosling talks about the delivery though:

K has a copy of the book in his apartment. Joi picks it up at one point asks him to read.

If anyone wants a reengineered version of the Wallace Startup Sequence, I took a sample of the original audio, messed with it in Audacity a bit and sped it up slightly (as it is the movie)and made it a little more synthetic (as it appears in the film). It's probably the best I can manage to do until Sony or someone releases it - i.e never.

After a long time I put on the unmatched Biosphere's Substrata album, and with this track I was instantly transported to Blade Runner 2049:

Damn, so quick. Hopefully sales of those will boost the films earnings enough to warrant a sequel/give studios confidence for more 'risks' like this in the future.

Watched it on the 26th when it came out on digital - the movie is just as stunning as the first time I watched it. Instant classic for me.

far better than was expecting, but not quite as gritty, Gosling was the weakest link even if his expression when told he had no soul was v well done

its a feast for the eyes, sure there are bits folks might change or aspects that people might feel differently about, but for a sequel it more than holds its own
