Ok so it's not ENTIRELY electronic. But it is largely synth-based:

Seeing this live blew my mind. White light and smoke everywhere.

Other than that, I don't really listen to much IDM anymore. And the small amount of it that I do listen to is hardly as impressive as stuff released 10+ years ago.

fuckin a modey, pivot kills me man, they are top notch. i have been dying to see them

The music isn't so jaw-dropping, but the rave party itself certainly is.

wow. if me and my boys are having this much fun in 30 years, we did something right. flannels, khakis, vests, random tires on the ground, god awful shit music…the guy in the dark brown pants doing the half-assed pirouettes looks like he may have shat himself.

wow. wow. wow.

if imam be honest, the last electronic that has fully blown my mind is lorn. im very late to his game but he is right in my wheelhouse. dark, funky, straight-forward and dirty.

have seen Pivot live twice now, before they were playing massive massive gigs (saw them during the O Soundtrack My Heart gigs in the UK, when they were playing rather small pubs).

Yeah I've been a big fan since they were a 5-piece Tortoise-esque band. Good to see that they're getting some appreciation on watmm, I remember getting very angry when someone complained about them being "just another crappy indie band on warp" when they first got signed.

It's a shame they don't play those small gigs anymore, I kinda miss seeing them in a small venue with only about 50-100 people in attendance. That said though, I can't wait to see them at Harvest festival in November!

Pivot are awesome, I wish Make Me Love You was available on vinyl :( The small venue gigs were awesome, I saw them in Birmingham and then later on in Liverpool. Really small gigs...I think the Birmingham one had maybe 60 people there, but it was really early on in the tour/ The Liverpool one had a few more people...I'd say the venue was a 150-200 capacity and it was full. That was quite a bit later on...in fact, if I remember correctly it was a second tour.

I've never seen them do a large venue, and to be perfectly honest I don't think I'd like to. I much prefer the ambiance of a small venue that isn't jam packed.

Having said that, I'm sure you'll enjoy the gig in November!

Last time I saw them was pretty amazing actually. Large venue, lots of people, but I was up the front - when they got to the choir part in Crimson Swan the whole stage became filled with smoke and white light, it was like a fucking religious experience or something, zole.

Off the top of my head:

Leyland Kirby - all

Demdike Stare - all

The Advisory Circle - all

Samiyam - all

Andy Stott - Passed Me By

that machinedrum album has a few cuts up its sleeve that make a nigga wanna jive like rice on tape

GBYE! is a jaw dropper for me. i just cut loose like a nigga / rice / tape

it sounds like poetic justice

as for oldies, this really split my mind down the middle. i haven't experienced such pure unadultered mindfuckage since my discovery of AE

Actually yeah, I kinda forgot how much of a mindfuck that track was when I first heard it. So distinctly Autechre but like nothing they'd done before.

I thought "ilanders" was a great track. Really intense synthesis with beats that are merely there as garnish. It was a very interesting and unique approach for them. I love to hear it on a foggy day.

My jaw doesn't drop but I get impressed so I involuntarily smile - and that happened with Doom's Special Herbs, just four days ago. I guess it counts as new. It was new to me, and it's from this century.

VHS Head comes to mind as well.
