i think when they fixed some mob pathing in 1.0.3 it affected the bears pathing, shit really sux. And now that tank doctor spec is getting popular they probably going to nerf it next patch, which is prolly when I stop playing. Only good news is I've made around $200 off the rmah just selling crap.

so the tank doctor thing works for you? i had kind of dismissed the idea without really giving it a chance. i'm still searching for my comfort zone with the WD, it started to feel like i was doing something right. managed to get through a good chunk of act 2 inferno just before the nerf. but now with my goto, bears, acting so unpredictable, it's not worth the repair cost to push forward.

then people are saying that act 3/4 drops of qualitty ilevel 63 have actually been nerfed, which kind of sucks the wind from my sail moreso. i like the post 1.03 patch drama on their forums at least http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5890100318

tank doctor is working well. I was pretty much stuck at the beginning of act 3 for a good week or so prior to 1.0.3. All I could do was farm resplendant chests/treasure goblins to upgrade my gear in hopes that after 1.0.3 arrived I would beable to progress. Which now I can. I am currently on the larder(ghom).

It's true, they really nerfed the 63 drops in act3. I was able to upgrade a bunch of my tank doctor item slots just from resplendant chest/goblin drops. I still need to get a good chest/pants and 1 ring to finish the build, but so far I am able to handle most mobs. I progressed from the beginning of act3 up to ghom yesterday and even with 5 valor stacks all I got was garbage drops. lots of lvl50+ crap. Literally 0 lvl63 items.

So really, I'm not even worried about farming or loot anymore because it's pointless after the nerf, I am just playing to progress and finish the game, which since I switched to tank spec has become fun. I only died a couple times, and was able to tank double champion/elite packs on a couple different occasions, which was very satisfying to me, and has made the gameplay enjoyable again.

If you want to try out tank spec, look for cheap gear on the ah with armor/resist all/vit/int. and find a cheap 1h weapon with Life on hit & a good shield. I luckily looted a lot of mine over time while farming, but I sold my old gear to help aquire some new tank stuff.

I am currently at:

1100 life on hit (800 on knife with socketed 300 gem) trying to find a good amulet with another 300+ loh

5500 armor (trying to get all my gear slots with +armor peices)

48k health (all gem slots switched to vitality gems)

600-700 resist all

12k dps (with soul harvest it's usually around 16k)

spirit walk (life back rune)

soul harvest (life back rune)

gargantuan (stinker rune for more loh)

bears (currently a pain to deal with, just have to find a flat surface for proper pathing) looking into alternatives

acid rain (most important for constant life on hit) rune for larger aoe

hex (with mana rune)

for passive vision quets is also mandatory for constant mana while

about the conspiracy theories in that link, most of it looks to be accurate. I've been farming act3 for some time and I believe blizzard are doing everything they can to stop botting/farming and to make the rmah the main source of their income for this game since they cannot charge a monthly fee. They really ruined a lot of the exloration/farming in the patch by killing magic find and gold/loot drops from breakable stuff like pots/barrels/vases.

you do make tank doctor sound fun. it sounds like you'd take a ton of hits though, which kind of sucks with the repair costs. i guess if you're not dying you can overcome that easy. i'm not sure what to make of my build currently, wouldn't say i've put a lot of thought into it. but it was getting me through act 2 up until the bears bugged with the patch. have to watch for texture changes on the floor has upped the difficulty and expense a lot.

i like siphon on soul harvest but i would always end up starting a fight with it, so the healing effect would be wasted. i never really worked out which rune would be best for me, so i just went with the one that would let me carry 5 stacks to the next fight, without risking diving into another group to rebuff. siphon does seem perfect for tanking though

and yeah that post i linked doesn't seem too far fetched, and i can't wait to read blue's 1.0.4 patch notes (if the bears thing doesn't piss me off into a diablo vacation)

So after taking 3 or 4 months off Diablo, a buddy of mine, who insists on playing hardcore convinced me to play again. Last night we completed inferno hardcore, not dying a single time(obviously). I concider myself done with this game finally! :)

If anyone is concidering taking the hardcore plunge, i recommend it. Makes the game a much larger adrenaline rush, to say the least.

I only had 1 really bad glitch related to dashing strike, where I dashed into the geometry, went invisible, and technically dropped to 0 health, but I was invunerable. We made sure to not play during peak hours.

This was my only/first hardcore char besides mules.

well i exaggerated a little, the pvp as we've seen it in videos/conventions will never be released to the public

they're back to the drawing boards for the team deathmatch mode

dueling should be coming soon though (but who's really waiting for that..)

These companies need to stop being chumps and put in more open world/world invasion type of PvP. So sick of arenas etc. LET ME GANK, PLEASE.This (among other things) is one of the big reasons why I think Old Republic failed. It was impossible to find good spots of contention, thus making the fun factor in pvp next to zilch. I want to be able to gank, and then take their shit. Collect their head as a trophy. This is what I need in a game. UO style.

For as much as I loathe what Blizz did with D3, it is funny how they still have probably the best open world pvp set up, with WoW. I don't know why they won't expand on it.

I played Diablo 2 countless times. Diablo 3 was one of the games I was looking forward to the most but then I ended up never playing it. Same thing happened with Pokemon: Gold.

I played it and it was fun but I neither respect the game as a cool product or want to play it again. Very different story than Diablo 2 and especially Diablo 1.

massively late to this, but i have completely rumbled the game upto act 3 in hell as a solo wizard, kind of fun utterly slaughtering everything, but the fact that dying means nothing atall kind of made the game feel abit weak. i remember being genuinely terrified in diablo 2 of losing all my stuff.

anyway morale of the story... dont play games 18 months after watmm does so youve got someone to talk to.

They say that the ripper of souls upgrade will change a lot of things about Diablo 3 and make it as if was supposed to be in the beginning. We'll see.

Yeah looking forward to the update aswell. I really liked diablo 3 for what it is but the replay value is not that high. An update might change this

I think ill give D3 a second chance.

I'll pick it up again when Reaper of Souls comes out... I'm hoping it does for D3 what Lord of Destruction did for D2

I liked the story of d3. Its worth playing the new story. What do people expect? Replay value for next 10 years?
