The playa's dating this lady

Sex must be great, five seconds of intercourse followed by two hours of Skrillex crying while listening to nanou on a loop.

Poor girl.

You can tell how unsatisfied she is by the blatant symbolism at 1:20

So Skrillex is playing not one, but two official gigs at SXSW, and then on Saturday he is playing a non-official gig at the same venue, coming on after Insane Clown Posse. That should be a great crowd.

Do you guys think I should go to one of these? I kind of feel obligated to just to get the "Skrillex experience."

Kind of hard to choose that over going to see someone else play, though, like Dinosaur Jr. or something...

I would go if there's nothing else on that you care about. Otherwise, skip it and go to something better. Unless you actually like Skrillex, in which case go to Skrillex, obviously.

"I don't like skrillex but hey he's in town and I want to get the experience.."

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Aphex is right under Skrillex.

edit:

Haha, reply number 2000. Post 2001 though I guess.

Come headliner time, we walk through Aphex Twin’s side of stage just as Skrillex pops his head around the corner. A fan standing right next to the barrier spots him and Skrillex graciously obliges with a photo. We stop to speak him briefly (again, he’s gracious) before he raises his litre-full bottle vodka in salute and strolls into the pit for the prime Aphex vantage point.

I want to see if it's actually a fun show or if it's just a bunch of wankery. And if it sucks then I can say with confidence that I saw Skrillex and it sucked. The SXSW crowd is pretty cool though, so I imagine it'd be fun.

Just go, you know you want to.

That Skrillex fan I've mentioned before (the one I spotted in the 'girls w/ Skrillex hair link) went to every single gig he did at SXSW 2011. She even missed Odd Future just to watch one of his brief daytime DJ sets.

lol. I bet I'll see her if I do go to one of his gigs.

What shows are you going to in the next few days? I've been scanning the schedule grid trying to find cool electronic stuff but honestly I've never heard of 90% of the bands. It's hard to figure out which ones might be good outside of clicking on names that sound good and listening to the samples.

this is going on right now http://brokenteethcrew.tumblr.com/post/18457315929/broken-teeth-crew-sxsw-2012-lineup (I'm stuck at work  )

I'd look for any future bass and beat scene gigs, I'm sure there's plenty of producers still in town. Maybe do a search for names here: http://showlistaustin.com/ I have to leave town this weekend so I've kind of tuned it all out I'm afraid. Good luck!

She seems like an artist that people with otherwise limited musical taste would embrace as "indie" or "alternative," thanks to the way she's marketed.

Let's all make complextro.

lolz

Looking at such patches and sample banks always makes me curious about how much the producers who make these get paid. Especially these hyped genre-specific ones that will undoubtedly lose popularity at some point. 10+ years ago and it would of been "trip-hop" and "big beat" kits.

Thanks for the recommendations! I think I'll check out that Broken Teeth thing in a minute.

Do you know of any specific future bass/beat scene acts to look for that are here?

You can tell she's indie because her video has a faux-retro photographic style..... Just like a Polaroid!!
