Every extra million views, I don't give a fuck because it's just like all the other bottom shelf dance music we've been subjected to since electronic dance music became a 'thing'.

I had a Skrillex-related moment today...

I was moving a bunch of shit in a car from point A to point B and my boyfriend was blaring top 40 stations the entire time. Having willingly subjected myself to around 2 hours of popular American radio I was stunned to realize the extent of Katy Perry's stranglehold over the airwaves at the moment; we counted no less than three stations in the Bay Area playing her music simultaneously (I guess that's how it is when an album spawns in excess of 7 singles). After being aurally sodomized by Perry ad infinitum 'Bangarang' came on and it was honestly a breath of fresh air by comparison...

I'm not saying Skrillex is making cutting edge, or even particularly good music; but in the current popular lexicon of Pitbull, Maroon 5 collabs and the aforementioned Perry, Skrillex is nearly as good as it gets for me!

It really is just the most boring thing ever, isn't it? I mean, depending on where you live it could be a bit better but you pretty much never, ever hear anything original or different. When I was checking out that Radio 6 broadcast with Peter Serafinowicz the other day I was amazed. Whether the tracks were good, bad or stunning at least they were different. Same shit every single day without fail.

Yeah commercial radio in australia is pretty much the same. They all play the exact same playlist of 100 or so songs and it varies so little that you could tune in 6 months later and still hear most of the same songs. I don't get it.

Even the 'request' section of their sites is just a dropdown menu with that super limited playlist..

I remember when he was getting hyped early last year and that Scary Monsters tune had a million views and now it has 67 million views! Probably in 10 years time it'll have several billion views lol.

Every extra million views, I lose a bit more hope in the human race.

Why?

The only reason that his stuff is gaining massive amounts of views on YouTube is because the kind of people that listen to his music are more likely to stream it in shitty quality from YouTube every time they want to listen to it, rather than even pirating the music from a torrent site.

I think people are actually quite particular about music quality on the internet these days as long as they're not disneypop listeners. There are plenty of comments on Skrillex videos about using 480p or higher.

one thing that warmed my heart recently was that the new Nicki Minaj song has more dislikes than likes, with a go 60something million views.

Good, because every Nicki Minaj track is just like " I'm gonna sing like Betty Boop!/NOW I'M GONNA SING LIKE A CRAZY BITCH!"

So who here has asked "where's the drop!?" while fucking? Or plans to in the near future? Possibly while listening to this?

It's likely at 77 pages this is a jizz jazz question, but I'm too lazy to search.
