From our point of view - obviously no.

From the rest of the worlds point-of-view - yes. To them it's just a bunch of awkward sounds with some beats they can understand and a catchy tune. What we consider to be IDM would be awkward sounds with incomprehensible beats and no melody. Or, Skrillx but without the drops.

Shakira is weird like that. She made that song "She Wolf" because she (or her producer probably) was really into Crystal Castles. And despite everything I really fucking like that song, its about as weird and lovely as a proper CC track. And in the video she dances like some crazy not-sexy monkey woman, and it looked like it cost four bucks to film. Anyway I guess she's down with electronic music, or at least more than others.

I remember when he was getting hyped early last year and that Scary Monsters tune had a million views and now it has 67 million views! Probably in 10 years time it'll have several billion views lol.

She's down with hype just like 99% of other people are lol. Shit that gets big just gets bigger and bigger until it eventually explodes. I didn't see this kinda snowball with DJ Distance when he was making the hardest darkest and filthiest dubstep known to man. Its funny when you think about some of the true originators they've just been left for dust now by these behemoths.
