You're both right. I can't remember how far back I sent my first demo to Rephlex, it was in early nineties while I was still at Uni in London, about 92 I think. Claire (Clear Records) was still with Grant at the time, I spoke to them several times on the phone as I was trying to get a record deal. Grant gave me Richard's phone number which turned out to be a dead number and they were going to come and see me at one point when I lived in Harrow. They never did. The last demo I sent to Rephlex when I was in London Grant said "wasn't accessible", then SAW II came out.

Phlid on the Select free tape, I have a demo which sounds exactly the same that I made on an Amiga. I nearly fell on the floor when I heard Phlid. On Drukqs, the similarites with the panning heartbeat/drum sounds on Gwely Mernans with one of the track I sent on a three track demo to Rephlex is uncanny. I sent a C60 after I moved back up north in about 94 that had about thirty tracks on and had loads of little keyboard interludes played live that are reminiscent of Penty Harmonium and some of the piano interludes, e.g. Strotha Tyne - strikingly similar to one of my recordings. Someone from Rephlex, maph I think, gave me a call to say they'd lost my demo, it was two cassettes worth with hand made artwork. I then re-sent a duplicate with photocopied artwork.

I bumped into Mark Bell years ago while on a night out in Leeds in about 95, sent him a demo a few days later and he liked it and wanted to co-produce some tracks with me, I declined cos I was young and had a bit of an ego. I accidentally left a C60 in his bedroom studio when he lived in Lofthouse near Leeds. The tape was full of loops and beats. Sheath turned out to be a blatant rip off of my low-fi 8 bit loops and beats.

I'm the IDM artist that never was. I've still got about 60 cassettes/DATs in my loft of tracks, loops, beats of stuff made between 89-97. I lost heart in making music when I heard my stuff being ripped off and haven't sent a demo out since. I don't have any faith in record labels.

There we go, the somewhat full version, thanks for sharing and very interesting. Last time you brought this up I think someone asked to hear some samples? If you get time in the future it would be sweet to hear some of this stuff, sorry if you have posted some stuff before, I don't remember it but then again i'm not very thorough on this forum

Did you do any microtonal stuff?

this sounds interesting, as if he's playing with the different layers of fenix funk (with a new beat)! maybe he's doing it live (seems like he's tweaking the robot voice), maybe it's just a pre-recorded alternate version... he should do more like this!

I think you need to either put up or shut up because you are making some intense accusations. You're basically charging one of the most prolific musicians of all time with ripping you off. You are accusing the guy that won't release music because he doesn't want to get ripped off of ripping you off.

There will be new love from the ashes of us.

I think we all made Gwenly Mernans at one point in time after we got bored after filtering a kick drum in an empty project.

However, wasen't that track something that could be seen, as if it was made via metasynth?
