So apparently this album is not even getting a domestic release in America. I went to the record store today thinking that it had come out days ago, didn't see it on the racks, and then an employee told me that they're getting the import version tomorrow, and that's all they're getting.

I know Orbital has never been huge over here, but really, no domestic release at all? That's just pathetic. And I don't feel like paying 30 dollars for an import CD. Really disappointed about this.

It's quite cheap over here: http://www.wowhd.us/CD/orbital-wonky/dp/27728711#bc=a178

Free shipping included in the price.

Since I bought this about a month ago, it's really become something better than I first imagined. Some slow-burners here. Yeah, Beelzedub and Wonky are a bit crap but the rest is commendable. And Stringy Acid is just classic Orbital. Everytime I hear that track, I just start grinning like an idiot and dancing around the room while imagining it's still 1993.

I looked for this in my shop over the weekend but they didn't have it. I thought it came out in the U.S. on the 17th?

I don't think I'll be buying this either. It's not entirely surprising really. The last album of theirs I bought was The Altogether, I didn't bother with the Blue Album. I'm going to see them on the 10th of April. I hope they don't fill out too much of the set with new album material. Having seen them a couple of times since they got back together they still know how to put on a show so I'll enjoy it hopefully. I've just been on a binge buying the back catalogue up on vinyl, which I think will do me just fine, I don't tire of the old stuff at all.

You should buy this. I believe it is the best thing they have produced since In Sides. You should at least check out some samples.

I haven't the whole thing yet but as they're currently offering the album as a £3.99 download this week on Amazon.co.uk and I had a £2 discount code I thought: ah, what the hell might as well buy it now ...

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Plump DJ's remix of Wonky. 'Tis very Plump!

I just realized that Plump DJs' style kinda' fits with the current "dubstep" trend (rubbery bass drops, rude/aggressive sounds, hard-hitting drums, etc.) They've been doing that for ever, maybe now is their time to get mainstream attention. </random thought>

Interesting thing about that picture for the plump-djs remix (and I'd love to have large printable version of it as a result) is that it's damn near-identical to the auras I see whenever a migraine hits, both colour wise and structually...

Agreed, especially as I just had one 4 hours ago. Luckily I've mostly grown out of the actual headache, but I still get the aura and occasional moving numbness.

Btw this album is great, particularly the opening track, though "Never" has grown on me quite a bit, too.

Great video! I'm going down to Amoeba right now to buy a copy of 'The Middle Of Nowhere' that I saw in clearance for $1.00; one of the holes in my collection!

First of all I never understood any of this talk about any Orbital album being bad. Complete and utter nonsense. They've all had something worth taking from them and the same for this. Solid, but I've got to say, far and away the very best thing on here is "Stringy Acid". For me this the obvious single and should have been the first thing promoted. Also it's timeless, I mean this song could have been on the first album and feel at home there. And live, omg it looks godlike. A classic.

Yeah Stringy Acid is quality, but Distractions is the highlight of the album for me, Orbital at their best.

This album is quite peculiar in many ways... very mixed feelings after a few listens. Mad respect for these guys though; the production is always pretty solid, and it just initially struck me as being quality. As I listened to the music itself, I did get the distinct Orbital vibe. There were a few good standout tracks for me, like Straight Sun, Never, and Distractions, with Stringy Acid and New France being decent enough... Then Beezledub and Wonky were just like "WTF!" moments for me. One big moment and Where's it going? were both disposable for me, but not necessarily terrible... just not my cup of tea.

I think it's a good come back album for them. It took a few listens to grow, but I'd give it a 6.5-7/10. Really like the production, with only a few questionable moments.

Good to have em' back :nacmat:
