All the problems you mentioned above are very real, and I believe they are a part of this problem. I agree with you, they are serious. I didn't mean to prioritize.

One of the main things I've noticed is that people see their technological advances, their scientific knowledge and their overall way of living as major achievements. But they have failed so terribly at that which matters most: creating a happy society.

To me, that is so much more important than the mundane little details of modern life. We do not live successfully, or freely, or happily. Yet we believe we're superior to animals because we invented the potato waffle, the gas station canopy, nuclear fission, or the letter H.

I know I'm a misanthropist, and some people might find that hard to take, but this is all pretty obvious if you think about it.

Just because you're depressed about shit doesn't mean that everyone else is. You think you don't live freely? Sheeit. 100 years ago you would have been working the farm, your choice in literature and music (and other cultural aspects) would have been highly limited, you would have been less healthy and your time to think about all these first world problems would have been nil.
