The Newburgh Sting - In which the FBI seduce some destitute, and not particularly bright, young men into a fictitious terror plot and treat it as some sort of major win in the War on Terror.

Recs for anyone watching Making a Murderer.

I watched childhood's end. Was ok, skimmed the pointless emotes. Would have preferred if it wasn't americans.

Just watched this... It was pretty bad, tbh :/

Childhood's End was pretty meh. But I believe Arthur C. Clark didn't quite like the book either, so if it explains a lot.

hah, really. When I meant was ok, this is in the context of not liking any US tv drama, but liking cg and world ending dilemma and wanting to see it cause Arthur c Clarke and potential for hard scifi. So yeah not that intresting but, you know skimming through as I said. Sorry guys if you watched watched it, but I was curious as to what you chaps thought given that most here seem to have more patience for modern tv drama. But then two of the smarter and one of the more cynical watched it, I wonder what the cream puffs thought.

Slowly working my way through Battlestar Galactica. It's pretty enjoyable.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I keep waiting for Blood & Chrome to go on sale. Don't forget to follow up with Caprica, it was rushed but entertaining.

it was utter shit

Giving The Leftovers another chance. It holds up better without the wait between episodes, but I still wouldn't say I love it.

Gripped by Making a Murderer, the blatant corruption is a real eye opener. I can't sleep though because I'm incandescent with rage at the injustice of it all.

Also, I love disgraced DA Ken Kratz's shitty 'Better Call Saul' website http://www.kratzlawfirm.com

Over the holidays my wife turned me into a streaming binge watcher (we cut the cable cord years ago and haven't looked back) - I normally don't watch much TV, and follow series even less, but here's what we are currently indulging in:

Marco Polo (done)

Daredevil (waiting for series 2 on 18 March)

The Flash (waiting for series 2 to come to Netflix)

Arrow (currently going through series 2)

TED talks (so fascinating - some of the talks are really interesting)

Hannibal - I cannot believe they cancelled this series after three seasons - so. goddamn. good. I read the books by Thomas Harris back in the late 80's when they came out, and was a fan of the movies, but goddamn, they nailed the books with this show. Mads Mikkelson playing Hannibal Lecter is perfect, and I prefer his Hannibal over Anthony Hopkins' portrayal, which is saying something.

Really enjoyed it. Probably the best major network show of recent memory. The show was up it's own arse, but still good stuff. I thought they ended it fine for the most part. Brutal ending with the dragon. Knifes always get me squeamish.

It really did look visually nice that show, hannibal, but you know, not anime, so didn't watch, hahar.

The fact that delet almost only watches anime explains a lot. A lot.

Thats just a dank meme that's going round at the moment, are you going to knock Japanese people for watching anime, or French for reading comics. Not everyone wants to watch half arsed, tired, boring, pointless, US television. That empire is past its prime, and never really made much that intrested me. I did like satire and surrealistic comedy from england, but they don't seem to make that any more.

I'm not knocking anime in general, some of it is great (I especially love GITS). Most of it is pretty terrible though.

Hannibal was pretty great with it's surreal, totally implausible logic, lush visuals and nice musics.

So, the man in the high castle... I thought this was going to be made off the book, but it wasn't really. I didn't enjoy it very much, some of the characters were really annoying. Well, actually most of the main ones. Also, didn't expect there's going to be more, I don't think I'm up for it.

didn't the scene where the japanese diplomat guy travelled into our timeline happen a lot earlier in the book, and it happened to the antique shop guy in the book as well. I can't actually remember how the book ended though, it's been a while since I read it. I thought it was ok, didn't mind most of the characters, aside from the nazi spy guy and the boyfriend who both annoyed me for some reason. rufus sewell was quite good I thought, and his nazi mate. and I liked the design of the show. was alright.

Oh I agree, most of any art is pretty dire. But there will still be things that fascinate me that probably frustrate other people without that niche interest and I accept that. At least we're still not at the stage where people say cartoons are for children, and then spend 90 minutes watching men run up and down a field, or some middle of the road low brain activity drama. heh. So at least we've come a little further down the road. I still think though that in the Anglo Saxon countries the public just doesn't connect to drawn characters in the same way they do real actors, probably can't empathise with them in the same way as real people, so there's always going to be some befuddlement as to why someone like me would choose to spend their time caring about checking out new anime season titles.

Yeah, the boyfriend and the nazi spy guy annoyed me the most. The design was allright, I'll admit to that.

I've recently read it and that part is very late in the book and he was the only person to see into an alternate time line from their own. I was reading it whilst the series started actually, though I had no idea they were making one until I was half way through.
