i tried the first ep before and ditched it. seemed very tv, kinda very obvious plot-moving writing and this indie-comedy farce that rarely works. but trying it again i thought that it's actually pretty sweet. like a tighter, better conceived take on that thing "the last man on earth" tried to do with its goofy humor and punchline-to-punchline drive.

the realization that nothing is true all of the time is what i take from this experience.

The best thing about Barry is the characterizations, all the actors seemed to have made a big effort to come up with believable and unique personalities, even if they only have a few lines. And yes, Noho Hank is great.

Arca tune in this week's Handmaid's Tale opening.

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

If there's one thing that put me off with Handmaid's Tale, it was the heavy handed music choices. nearly Suicide Squad levels.

Yep, there was one bit in season one that was really cringey, they were all walking in slow motion while smirking like a bunch of bad asses while some awful shite played in the background, was terrible. All of the flashback stuff had bad music choices too.

^yeah that was fucking awful. The one I hated most was:

I actually thought some of the background ambient soundtrack stuff in Handmaids tale was quite good... agreed that the songs suck tho ...

I gotta say I love watching Serena ... she is always great on screen ... good character

that last episode with focus on serena was probably the first decent episode in the entire show.

probably back to sitting in a bath full of vaj blood in slo-mo with a dreary score in the next one. it's actually a good metaphor for the whole show.

wow this is really cheesy but brings back a lot of memories. all those late 80s/early 90s haircuts, one long earring and the 90s dyed jeans- not to mention each episode had an anti-drug (and occasionally) use condoms message behind it because it was the regan era. this should be required viewing for todays teenagers

Yeah Handmaid is still good, it's just some of the unfortunate choices with direction. I assume those stylistic choices are written by, and made to appeal to, *ahem* y o u n g p e o p l e

They appear to be a bit drunk on their own importance too

Watched the first four episodes of Westworld Season 2 last night and definitely feel I’ve reached a cognitive plateau.

yeh the Handmaids Tale sounds like fkn garbage too.

u know it’s a great show when you keep asking yourself “why am I watching this” while watching this.

at least it doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a “u never guess what happen nexxcct” deal.

serious cringe at “she has a a dragon” pun...

I'm still digging Westworld. The only thing that annoys me about it is the fact that somebody (usually Dolores) has to say to somebody 'I've got something to show you' (or words to that effect) about twice per episode, usually followed by them cutting away and never seeing what it was they had to show, I've taken to shouting at the TV whenever anyone says that now.

Altered Carbon - I'm quite enjoying it about halfway through, got a funny feeling it'll get worse as it continues but for now I hope for the best. Maybe slightly too much unnecessary attempt at funnies by the main guy (forgets name)

:doge: Jet fuel can't melt dank memes :doge:

WESTWORLD - Enjoyed the first season the most, and glad I didn't listen to any podcasts ruining the plotlines and reveals for me.

Kinda miss Jimmi Simpson in it though, wasn't he great in IASIP.

It was pretty bad, but I still enjoyed it. Lead actor was terrible.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

the americans - a few blunders (u2, paige and vodka) but otherwise both very moving and satisfying. it would be a much more crushing experience if not irl history and the fall of soviet union in just a few years. kinda wish i didn't know russian because keri russel's russian pronunciation of "we'll get used to it" felt a bit like a shart in my face.
