I've been hanging out with my blokey friends (do yall use the term bloke?) and I want to know how you feel about this.

I'm going to make a big leap of faith and say most of you are socially retarded. Don't get mad, deep in your hearts you know its true. I bet you try to talk to people about Autechre at times.

Anyhoo, been hanging out with ma socially functional, sport enjoying, beer drinking, women disregarding chums and I've had a great time doing so. I watch this fucking thing called the Lingerie Football League which is just astoundingly socially backward. Its this version of American football where the women wear underwear AND THAT'S IT. That's the point of difference. The commentators try their darndest to retain the dignity of all parties involved, but struggle.

Long thread short, do you have normal, hyper-hetero friends? Do you hang out with them? Do you have fun in doing so? Do you watch LFL? Do you endure guilt afterwards?

I've got friend like that but from a female perspective, it's strange if you can imagine the female version of a hyper-hetero man... basically thy're man eaters. I find I'm most comfortable in a male dominated environment, I'm not scared by those sort of hyper-hetero men as they crumble quickest. Yes, I am socially awkward and no I don't have these sort of friends, some might show tendencies of this sort of behaviour but other aspects of their personality overshadow that. I find this super-hetero posturing to be rather funny and primitive. And I have not watched LFL, if you want to watch scantly-clad women, why not just watch porn?

EDIT: I wouldn't consider my mates who play lots of sports and watch football all day to be socially adapt.

Most of my friend both make music and are not socially retarded. Its really not a difficult concept to master. You find some people, usually performing live, who do similar stuff as you. and you agree to hang out with them after talking for a bit.

I purposely try to surround myself with people who are smart at one thing or another. I have a friend who is obsessed with cars, and although I feel like a typical beer swilling male when we sit in his garage and talk about cars, instead he's wonking out about the physics involved and low level intricacies of the engine design. In the process I've learnt plenty about cars, and am no longer scared of servicing my own or telling a mechanic to fuck off if he feels like ripping me off.

The people in my life who have no interests beyond being a typical cookie cutter human paradigm, be it male or female, usually end up as a casual acquaintance at best. It has nothing to do with me feeling superior to anyone else, it simply that if things don't "interest" me, then I'd rather not bother with them.

I come from a small town. So there's not a lot of people who are into, what i'm into. Most my friends are these "dudebro" types. Really really good friends. But I honestly don't have much in common with them. But it doens't really bother me.
