Autechre Everything was "Techno", now it's "Dubstep"

I find it hilarious that, with the rise of the pinned thread champion and his ilk, the generic blanket term that laymen use to describe all electronic music is now "dubstep". It used to be that for about 20 odd years everything from Kraftwerk to Autechre to Fatboy Slim was called "techno" by the general public.

The other day I popped in the CD 'Consequence - Live For Never' at work and my coworker who listens exclusively to top 40 rock said "is this that dubstep shit?". I said yes.

The other day i put on an album by this Kraftwerk guy, i kept waiting for a bass drop .. never arrived wtf is this shit?

The thing that pisses me off the most is when people say Country, when they really mean Western.
