I do respect that this track sounds lovely. But I suppose I'm in the mood for something a bit harder or more unusual from him (or quiet and beautiful but still different and challenging), especially in light of where most electronic guys are going. :~)

We might share that point BUT I've always thought Clark is much better when he's full lenght album so I'll wait (trying not to listen to every single track or excerpt he puts out before the release....)

maybe its just me but that bass drum and snare drum hit (which sound like very odd choices in themselves, the samples are not good) take a somewhat psychedelic ghostbox like melodic passage into Keygen music territory. I read this thread backwards, so by the time i actually hit play on the youtube clip i assumed i was listening to something different than the rest of you.

I really like Com Touch a lot on first couple listens, it seems he's taken to working with melody more again. I love all of his output but if this is kind of a step back to roots with more of the Self-Titled - Body Riddle sound on this album it will be quite welcome. Speaking of Body Riddle, did anyone else notice this track has a lot of similarity melodically to "Night Knuckles"? Like a more evolved less music-boxy version of said track?

Since I've read that sentence I can't listen to the track without thinking "Oh my that snare sounds really awful"

Yeah I also kinda regretted the drum sounds but I suppose that's due to the fact our inner dancer is wanting for a more banging beat like Clark knows perfectly how to do.

Maybe something softer like that isn't that bad, especially in the context of an album.

the drum sounds are actually kinda shocking if you consider how his drum sounds on the last 2 albums were always really top notch

i think he's done quite enough hard/quiet & different already.

that's not to say that i wouldn't like it or don't want any more of it. just saying. he's done plenty of that. :)

The kick/snare are background, melodic content is the focal point. That's why they're not banging-in-your-face-awesome sounding. It's in part why I find this to be a refreshing shift in direction.

They do sound weak now that I listen again after the commentary, but I agree it's background and hadn't bothered me. Still, it seems a bit unclear/muddy now. I'm not one to really focus in on those kind of details unless they're brought to my attention, so I'm sure I'll forget about it soon enough.

The snare is not a problem for me. They provide the momentum the track needs without jousting you out of your comfy chair. Clark knows how to Clark, don't question his expertise, dammit.
