You think?

God this sounds terrible.

So-Called Life was timesig001, Speed Dealer Moms was timesig002, and this is timesig004. Did I miss timesig003 or is it the birthday ep?

Haven't listened yet, but for a guy who releases so often Snares has a surprisingly good hit/miss ratio when it comes to cover art.

Alright then, let me fix that.

It really sounds like the guy has been running out of ideas for the last five years though.

you obviously didn't listen to cubbist reggae then. maybe it's more a matter of you not liking his style, than him running out ideas. besides it's refreshing to hear something other than dubstep these days.

Yeah but it's not refreshing to hear Snares make more slight variations on a fairly tired theme. Not doing much for me I have to say :(

;)

Last Step - 1961 was the latest good album IMO. What I heard from him as Venetian Snares since Meathole sounds less inspired.

(except Horsey Noises with notably track 2 & 3 which are somewhere at the top of my vsnares tracks list)

i kind of like the first track

and I like the production of this and affectionate, or I like the melodies and hate the production. One or the other

maybe it's the production. Even Rossz was ridiculously intense/loud or whatever, this you feel the midi sheet/tracker window sliding along hitting various notes/triggers etc. no matter how complex it is or whatever. Feels like you're supposed to perceive it that way instead of being overwhelmed by layers of stuff

Edited by Ragnar

his new stuff also has this kind of urgency that wasn't there before, 2012 etc. etc. like a lot of stuff off this and that last track from Cubist Reggae. It makes me have some kind of pleasurable panic attack

to me, that's a big part of why i like him. i love trackers.

No CD release for this one either? What the hell is Planet Mu's problem? :cerious:

It really sounds like the guy is running out of ideas though. It's like he makes three different kind of tracks. These glitch-like ones, silly jungle tracks like on My So Called Life/Detrimentalist and tracks with orchestral samples in them. It's not like Autechre and SP who's constantly evolving their sound and coming up with new ideas.

Yeah, and some of their last albums sucked pretty hard...Shobaleader? Quaristice?

I love this sound. Hope it stays.

Let's all try really hard not to turn this into a debate about those albums.

Vocals in the first track sound like Genesis P :emotawesomepm9:

Really liking these samples actually. Agree that it's a shame there's no cd release.

Quaristice is their best release IMHO

Totally agreed..

Last five years? Wtf guys?? detrimentalist and cubist reggae were great, filth was ok and had some very nice tracks.

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.
