again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Last Step - 1961 was the latest good album

Last Step is his strongest work that i've heard in the last 5 years or so

I thought My So-Called Life was quite good. I liked the variety, and it felt to me like he wasn't holding anything back.

I may need to give it another listen but I felt like 1961 was too much of an Analord ripoff. Then again, Analord seems to be to WATMM what Ronald Reagan is to the post-1980 G.O.P.

this you feel the midi sheet/tracker window sliding along hitting various notes/triggers etc. no matter how complex it is or whatever. Feels like you're supposed to perceive it that way instead of being overwhelmed by layers of stuff

to me, that's a big part of why i like him. i love trackers.

nevermind I just had crappy headphones on. I think his stuff /doesn't/ seem to fly by like that, if it does sound like they go on a tracker conveyor belt sort of feel then the notes blow up and fill the screen as they're triggered and sometimes warp in strange ways, or something. I'm bad at explaining things

I think his recent stuff is dark but in a different way, like more paranoid than horror movie stuff, his old stuff is even like melancholy?? One sound on the third track I think literally scares me a little

You definitely should. I think I thought something similar when I first heard Last Step (the album) but now the two albums have grown on me I can feel a very strong Venetian Snares presence in them. Especially 1961, which is IMO very complex, like he transformed all the violence he can put in some Vsnares tracks into something more cerebral. 1961 and Winter In The Belly Of A Snake are my favourite vsnares albums because they sound like they are a level up in maturity.

Analord is IMO much more sensitive and warm.

Horsey Noises is porn to my ears. Best VSnares 4-track EP so far. This sounds nice too, if I didn't have to pay for postage I would gladly spend some money on this

I think like My so called life this has potential to grow on me. I wasn't all into it but then one day I went back and I was totally digging it.

Also I mean the album, the actual track My so called life I fucking loved the moment I first heard it.

My so called life is his worst album. Even aaron said he did it in 2 weeks just so he had a release on timesig.

Btw timesig is the best name ever for a label.

I need some new badass vsnares breakcore album full of gabber kicks and noise, fuck those new shitty boring acid farts...

I like how Ego DSP sounds on the programming the most. Something with it hit pretty well with me.

Yeah but it's not refreshing to hear Snares make more slight variations on a fairly tired theme. Not doing much for me I have to say :(

Yep, this is where i am with this type of music. By 2005, I realized there wasn't much left to VS other than rehashes of the same sounds, and jumped ship surprisingly quickly.

I'll give it a listen, Cubist Reggae was good but I will agree it does seem he's runing out of ideas the last few years...

His description of the EP sounds somewhat unhinged....

The title sounds alot funnier when you imagine aaron saying it. He says the "OR" like the terminator
