M.I.A - Bad Girls - fucking epic!!!

Saw this video for the first time on Saturday and I gotta say I was totally blown away. This is probably the best 'pop' tune of the last 5 years. It totally trampels over all the other crap out there!!

edit: the beat is at least tolerable, but M.I.A.'s "rapping" is got awful and grating...bugged me ever since Paper Planes.

Mmmm. It's okay but I was expecting some mental hook to pop up or something epic to happen, but nothing materialized. Pretty good and she's pretty tasty.

i like m.i.a's music cause i feel it's a lot more empowering for young ladies than more mainstream pop music (rihanna especially, god her music is trash).

peaches is pretty great in that respect too.

I like MIA lots. This song is whatevs. The video I hate. I just hate cars doint tricks in videos, ironic or not. The only car I've really enjoyed in a video is obviously Aphex's limo in Windowlicker, obviously.

Video is so bad I've already permanently scrolled down just to hear the track without letting the visuals potentially ruin it.

I really used to love Maya and it breaks my heart how bad she had become over the years.

Her style is unique and she's been doing it since 2005 and probably long before that too. No one else sounds like her. I appreciate she's not a technically great mc but the thing is technical doesn't always win. You need style, substance and a decent message to go with that and she has that in abundance. Now if you compare her to all the other uk female mcs which are reasonable well known its all this tough street talk vibe which I dunno just feels a little too forced and aggressive imo. And the reality is none of them have broken big and its really because between them they haven't really made a decent record!

Yeah I liked her early in her career, but grew to fucking hate her at one point, in fact I was glee when that NYT article came out. I don't loathe her anymore, this new song is ok, the video is kinda neat, though it's apparent she'll never get beyond the "provacative" neon-bedazzlemed third-world pop aesthetic nonsense.

She's a mediocre art student who can't quite sing or rap and quasi-toasts over tracks she doesn't produce. Her music is ok but her "message" is confused, superficial, and half-baked. When it comes to social commentary and politics, which honestly made her so notable, she sounds like a left-wing version of Sarah Palin.

oh come on please. generic rhythmic asian samples + hip hop beat and bass + weird steven hawkin vocal and these lyrics have substance style and a decent message?
