Well, fuck.

edit: actually, I have no idea whether my MBP would be supported. It's a 15" 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo, but it's late 2007. It looks like yes, but I don't know if there's an arbitrary date cut off somewhere.

looks like my old(ish) 2007 macbook is shit outta luck... ah well...it's happy with Lion i guess, runs it fine...hardly ever use the thing these days anyway, maybe i should sell it.

oh snap, did you guys see the app icon for Mountain Lion? It's really slick, don't look unless you want to be surprised when it comes out.

why is the background always a picture of space? Also why do people keep it. I used to work with a guy who made his xfce background in gentoo the purple space picture from 10.5 or 10.6, whatever that version was. Because he was so apple obsessed, but was too cheap to buy a new mac.

Fucking marketing. I mean, actually doing work and doing it fast is all I care about. I mean, they make it seem like it is way better but I almost want to nuke my install and just build up a nice lightweight linux desktop with everything I need. That shit is so fucking slow as soon as I start doing real work.

I fucking hate the window management because it is annoying as fuck. Like, if I have two screens, and the top bar is on one and my program is on the other, I have to go over to the other screen. Or like, I don't understand how it groups things by program even if you have multiple windows of it. Like if I apple-key+tab with 5 firefox windows, I only get to choose firefox in general, to see all of my windows in an expose, I have to long-click the icon on the taskbar.

Sorry, new to macs for any type of serious use but my work makes me use a macbook pro, and I don't know what the fuck I am doing half the time. Also why, the fuck does it all have to be so bubbly and animated, and the fucking finder sucks, I hate it. Every view has it's downsides, you know what I mean? Like I have to switch to a different view and change to order by date modified, but then I don't see a preview, so I have to switch back, why can't I just do both? I then I realize I have like ten fucking finder windows open in the background. It is like nautilus relational view versus detail view or whatever, I can't remember the bullshit with gnome and the file manager you know what I am talking about? Also, the memory management by the OS is really fucking confusing, it keeps all kinds of shit in memory even after closing the application. Also spotlight, what a fucking resource hogging piece of shit.

I mostly just hate this attempt to converge into the market that iphone and ipad have created, I mean, it is a fucking unix system for fucks sake, if you are going to make all of these changes, do it from the ground up. You can keep the mach kernel or whatever but just fucking do it without fucking over the existing shit. Mac OSX used to be a great server OS and now it sucks balls.

what the fuck apple

Apple gets worse with every update, and so do all of its applications. I'm about to switch to Linux, not because its any better than Windows or Mac, but because if I'm going to get a shitty OS I'm at least going to get a free one.

Expose hotkey is f10 by default i think. (although since I have my hand on the mouse a fair bit, I just use the hot corners). Also apple key+tilde is to switch between windows (just in case you didn't already know)

Use column view for finder - right click, select "arrange by" and then choose how you want them arranged. Keeps the previews as well.

If you don't use spotlight:

sudo mdutil -a -i off
