personally I don't think RDJ has ever produced a really solid full album imho, sure there are some belters but also some meh, I never tend to play any of them front to back without skipping a track or two.

If Come to Daddy or Rushup Edge were proper albums rather than EP's they'd be on the top of my list.

I was just looking at critics' ratings of random Aphex albums out of curiosity and damn, I never knew 26 Mixes for Cash got such good reviews. I'm not going to hate on it, but I recall just wishing it would end back when I was listening to RDJ stuff chronologically. Maybe I should give it another go, but I don't recall there being a single track I'd go back to.

Also, assuming the Lemonheads remix anecdote the Aphex Twin FAQ mentions is true, I'm surprised the album exists at all given that it seems he doesn't take remixes all that seriously, at least some of the time...

Not to dismiss the other tracks but for me, these are my favorites:

-raising the titanic

- change

-Deep In velvet

-We have arrived

-Let my fish loose

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Jeez really? I'm honestly not a huge fan of the album either, but there are 2 or 3 gems on that album. The Heroes Symphony is probably my favorite.

I heard the Windowlicker Acid Edit and that NIN remix on Top Gear the other day.

Can't Hide Your Love (hidden love mix) is fucking epic. I personally think it's one of the best things rdj has ever done. Go back to that one and listen to it loud.

I'm going to be realistic about this.

SAW 9/10

SAWII 7/10 (5 points for Rhubarb)

ICBYD 8/10 (But 4 points are for 'Alberto Balsalm' alone)

HAB 8/10

RDJA 9/10

CTD 8/10

Drukqs 7/10

This is so typical.... my palm hit my face instantly

The same goes for saying the middle tracks on drukqs are "loose" and "unecessary trash"

Typical? Typical is blowing RDJ for every little thing he releases because he's RDJ. He has some tracks that aren't that great. I'm just saying...don't get me wrong I love the majority of Saw II, I just think it doesn't compare to his other works. Act like Rhubarb isn't the best track on that album by far. Same with ICBYD. Love most of the album, but there are a a couple sore spots there. In my opinion Alberto Balsalm is one of his best tracks to date. And as far as Drukqs goes, I like the "loose" ambient and prepared piano tracks equally to the really intense micro-programmed tracks. I like the contrast and think it actually flows really well in a very broken way. It's like the White Album.

The drukqs reference wasnt about YOUR post. And when you talk about people blowing afx for everything he does, don't put me in.

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

Bradley's Beats - 9/10

UI Red tracks - 8/10

Kickass Outside Violin Solo - 10/10

GAK tracks - 11/10

All other afx stuff is boring and is about a 3/10
