aw come ooon, this is just a fucking facebook. i can't believe people are so serious about it. my job as of last 12 months was basically to operate a facebook page and i still don't seem to treat it as serious as some of you. plus, if you hate your family so much and all your friends are assholes use a fake name and invite people you like. i mean, fuck. nobody forces you to stay there 24/7. and if you're so afraid someone may steal or abuse your information in some big corporate internet scam don't share anything you wouldn't want random people to know/have.

life if pretty simple when you think of it.

When I had Facebook (2005-2011) I was constantly trimming my "friends", removing personal information and making sure to put my maximum security up after every policy change. I wasn't playing properly so I figured I'd just delete it.

I went a couple of months, focussed my attentions elsewhere, but now I want to have a Facebook page so I have to have a normal profile to control it from.

It sucks that they've got me over a barrel, although the networking capabilities of Facebook pages are pretty cool to see in action. So I've used a pseudonym to put off any real-life people from finding me and have so few friends who are still using it that it's pretty much dead now.

Even simpler: Don't use it at all! :cisfor:

delete the interwebz its evil

I removed my profile a couple of months ago. Can't say I miss it apart from the few artists/label that use it as their main communication platform. I created a profile under a fake name because I need a developer account sometimes but the cunts somehow noticed and flagged me. I would have to upload a scan of my ID to create apps. What the fuck.

Facebook only bothers me knowing it destroys people's time and perverts social bonding, otherwise I have it for ever and it never hurt me.

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

I don't mind facebook and use the mobile facebook messenger app to stay in touch with close friends and meet local ppl I run into around town. That app is pretty cool it's just the FB messenger without all the other crap. I don't even look at wall posts people make or anything, it's mostly useless stuff and funny picture reposts.

The best thing about FB right now is lots of current bands use it to post touring info. Don't even have to go anywhere to see it. It comes to you. I signed up for news and info from all the venues that I usually go to as well.

I'm on Facebook and I rarely if ever use it. I accept friend requests, but never send out any if I see someone I know. I don't 'like' things, don't comment on walls. I also don't sign up for any of the games people send me links to. I think I've used the chat once in the last 5 years. It's like I'm not even there.

I have this, except its not my real name and I browse incognito in chrome :shuriken:

Its only for any easy way to ask my peers about college related stuff. ive about 8 friends so wasting time on it isnt really an option as my newsfeed has 2 thing, both of which are boring.

Evening Jules, I had an account about 5 years ago. I got rid after 2 months. Just not my cup of tea, but I am a private person so the whole thing irked me tbh. I can see how it has great advantages, like if you have family and friends scattered around the world, but otherwise I don't see the point and I couldn't believe the amount of time I wasted when I was on it, It was unhealthy.

in reply to the whole thread, not to beerwolf, but...

jeeeeze it's only facebook, you can control most every aspect of it. and as people have said before, what you see is only as shit as what your friends post! but you can unsubscribe from their updates if you so wish. which i have done with several people, because they post a lot of shite. then you don't see any of their posts/status updates and at the same time you don't have to go full out dick-prick and delete or block them! :) ..which they will know about. so, as sup would say, be cool me humos !

85% of my news feed comes from two friends who are hardcore activists. There is no end of shit for them to be pissed off about! (The other 15% is people's babbies.)

i am hot shit ... that smells like baking bread.

It appears the powers that be at facebook just removed a link from a private message between myself and 3 friends, which makes me more than a little creeped out. So just know that your private messages are not actually private on facebook... (I don't actually know what the video was, only that it was first vid on the internet that ever managed to gross out my friend, So whatever it was, it was horrible and probably shouldn't be seen by anyone... but regardless it's completely fucked up that facebook is monitoring private messages.)

Facebook is useful if you're constantly having to make plans with groups of people. I primarily use it for that, Scrabble, and music promo. But given the above scenario I'm debating jumping ship.

Yeah this really is a giant red flag. Even WATMM is beginning to creep me out lately.

Jules am I correct in saying you have a new born? If so then Facbook would be perhaps good, so all your family can keep up to date with what's going on.

I see most of my friends sociably anyway, so we go to the pub and that's much more fun than Facbook, and all my other acquaintances are on here. So the whole FB thing is redundant for me. Plus I quite like being the only one (well me and my mate mike) who refuse to have anything to do with it, rebels that we are.

You know, while that's pretty suspicious, I wouldn't necessarily attribute something to Facebook censorship that can easily be attributed to Facebook glitchiness. I've had whole conversations disappear followed by ghost notifications of updates to said missing thread and then reappearance of said thread months/years later.
