Danny Welbeck is second only to Mellberg in being a cool-as-fuck baller. I didn't realise Mellberg had spent the last 5 years in Williamsburg. England need more beards

I love Welbeck's hightop, but he's got one of the silliest voices since Beckham. I expected him to sound smooth in the post-match interview, but I guess he's still young enough to have a silly voice.

But mostly, the manner in which he has effortleslly slotted into the England team without the fanfare that Owen, Rooney, Walcott and now Chamberlain had is a breath of fresh air. It's a testament to Ferguson's tutelage that he plays so consistently, and without fear or awe, at the highest level.

The stats for Welbeck yesterday are very impressive:

3 shots - 1 goal, 1 blocked, 1 wide

Attacking 3rd passes - 14 successful from 15 attempts (only Scott Parker had more for England, 20/24)

Total passes - 26 from 27 (team average was about 80% completed)

2 goal chances created

2/2 take-ons completed

2/2 aerial battles won

that means.............mirrezi doesnt slag off the english, he has no words. A surprise for me;-)

Give him time to recover from the shock of walcott actually doing something useful in an international match.

We still have to get at least a draw from the Ukraine to qualify right? Won't be easy. Our central midfield looked woeful.

The big question of course is - does Woy put on Rooney? He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

He played better because of Andy Caroll (that second striker i was talking about). Welbeck is no number 9, he needs the freedom to move around and do his thing.

a) he still played really well in the first match

b) he is a number 9 really, but not quite as stagnant as traditional number 9s for sure.

I think what's so amazing about the performance against Sweden wasn't that it was exceptional or very good, but that England played with so much spirit and self-belief. When's the last time England looked like they cared that much? '92 with Gazza? '90 with Lineker?

We'll see if it was a mirage when they take on a fairly terribad Ukraine.

Also, yes. Theo Walcott. WTF.

I'd like to see England get out of the group if only to see Welbeck more.

it's the first time England have come back from behind in a tournament to win (in 90 mins). Great to see.

But seriously, it shouldn't have taken his performance against Sweden to notice Welbeck. If you watched the France game and thought he was bad, then I'd like whatever drugs you're taking.

Seeing as I'm a united fan, I've been watching him astound defenders all season. He's gonna be magic in a couple of years when he starts to hit his prime.

Welbeck and Rooney together upfront, i'm very optimistic about that partnership.

It worked pretty well for us at times during the season.

I think Woy starts Rooney, and then subs him if necessary. If he brings him on as a sub, that's just a stupid amount of pressure to put on him. He has to play him though, cause if England lose against the Ukraine without Rooney playing, everyone will say "why the fuck didn't you play Rooney?" Starting him, and then subbing him if things aren't going well, best option for Woy - "Well we tried rooney but it didn't quite work out, so we subbed him." OR "I had faith in Rooney all along, he played a big part in us getting the result." (if England win).

As long as Rooney is match fit, he should be an asset though.

So .. group of death . predictions?

Germany hate Holland but do they have the balls to play for a draw to eliminate holland from the Euros?

I think Germany will beat Denmark and Holland-Portugal will be a ridiculous 4-4 draw.

You should read his autobiography, its hilarious.

  Quote
“At Barca, players were banned from driving their sports cars to training. I thought this was ridiculous – it was no one’s business what car I drive – so in April, before a match with Almeria, I drove my Ferrari Enzo to work. It caused a scene.”

  Quote
“Then Guardiola started his philosopher thing. I was barely listening. Why would I? It was advanced bullshit about blood, sweat and tears, that kind of stuff.”

  Quote
“An injured Zlatan is a pretty serious thing for any team.”

Here is the trailer for his book.

When I saw this, I thought Hart had done something. It seems not.
