yeah, this is good, but does go anywhere. I cannot beleive anyone in here, closing is eyes and getting touched by this track

That beat is so fucking cool. It's funny how many people on this forum like highly repetitive house music (including me) and then they hear a FlyLo tune and they say it goes nowhere. If there was a four-on-the-floor 909 kick on this track then it would win WATMM single of the year.

Honestly, I'm so confused. Actress wins (or nearly wins, I forget) album of the year, but alot of those same folks who love Actress regularly hate on FlyLo. Hilarious.

(p.s. I do like Actress)

yeah, I love actress. I think that actress is highly original. his doing something completely weird. I find flying lotus music highly predictable. and no, I do not think his beat are amazing. but then, I am really critical concerning beats. I do know how to explain it, but I come from a jazz background, so those little beat doesnt get me super excited. however, actress, I dont know, there just a special something that makes me want to revisit his music at least once a week. flying lotus? yeah once a month, and I get bored after two or three tracks.

so, you reall listen often to flying lotus? Like you wake up in the morning and you want to listen to one track from them right away? flying lotus never did this for me.

and in general, I cannot stand all this repetitive house stuff people in here listens to. but yeah, everybody taste is so weird for me. I will probably even feel weird from my own self in 5 years from now. :)

I admit though, i have listened to the song like 3 or 4 times now, and im starting to like it. damn, mayeb I was too fast on flying lotus but I tried is last los angeles but after a couple of songs, it all sounded a bit the same. Okay, ill listen to the whole los angeles this week because of this thread. thanks

He's pretty accessible, a lot of people can get into him considering most of his songs are instant gratification(not necessarily a bad thing.) Saw him last October and it was really fun, great preformance

Because his music sounds experimental, but still has this casual vibe in it which appeals to your ordinary down-to-earth people, like my mother, for example. Music with a completely "uncasual" vibe would be AE, and usually, it's very alienating for those digging the casual.

It's just the right balance between accessibility and experimentation in his music.

Which I personally don't like because it feels like cheating and whores or something.

im suppose to have a ear orgasm because of the harp? sorry, but I dont share your enthousiasm at all, I dont see anything good actually about this track. besides his production skill, which I really like, but musically, this is boring for me.

it's not about the harp, its all about feeling, with a jazzy background you should eat up cosmogramma, it jizzes jazz allover!

i love actress too but he's alot more abstract and colder and most of his tracks like bubblebutts etc. don't go anywere either and it doesn't have 2 !

you can't just put on 1 or 2 tracks from cosmogramma, i would wake up and play the whole album, you need to listen to it as a whole

LA is more single tracks, i still listen to both albums, i love them

He does some good work, great production, very interesting music... but I personally find him... lacking? He sounds very flat and his music has no depth. I just haven't been able to sink my teeth into it.

Also, I saw him live once and he was rubbish. I get artists don't have good gigs all the time, but damn. I walked out because his set was so fucking boring.

You're not the only one. I saw him live and it was embarrassing. So much so I havent played his records since and I didn't even bother to listen to this latest album. That's how bad it was...

that's the problem with that kind of music. it sounds awesome and shit, but it doesn't really touch you in any way... it is just "pum cha pupum pupum cha".

I still don't understand why people feel this way.

(I'm just gonna keep posting variations of this statement on every page)

Maybe there's a spark that wasn't there with the last album? I love 1983, and Los Angeles, and I've been re-visiting Cosmogramma a lot. But even as a fan I agree - something just wasn't there with the last album with many of the tracks. It's hard to describe but I think "lack of depth" could apply to Until The Quiet Comes. I could just need to give it another go I suppose...

speaking of that album, the article for it on wikipedia is really fucking long!

I wouldn't say pathetic but it's very ridiculous. That much content and you'd think it was a fucking landmark album from 20 years ago. The "background" section has more text than the words on all of the articles on all of this other albums put together - and this is arguably (or even definitively) not his best album! Some mentioned this is the talk section, I dunno I feel like actually adding content to L.A. and Cosmogramma since it's probably not going to be trimmed down much at all.

I already liked the music on that show a lot, but his music being featured seems like it was only a matter of time. Tyler the Creator was on Regular Show after all.

jesus.. quotes like this make me think he's an idiot

I feel like that [dream] world fascinates me so much. That feeling is very present in the artist's mind where creative ideas flourish. The notion of the unknown and beyond is something that I've always been curious about, and the music and work that do is where I can ask those questions.

haha no way!! so original! What a pioneer.

I started comparing the length to that of timeless and universally praised albums and I've yet to find one, besides Abbey Road, that's longer. I can't comprehend the absurdity of that so I stopped looking.

After giving his stuff some time, these are the only good Flying Lotus songs I'd have to say, and it's all hip hop :cisfor: .

^ I have to admit his more straight-up hip-hop songs are the ones I listen to the most.

I've also wondered this . I think its one of those phenomenon when girls like something thats not terrible, then guys start liking it too, then it snowballs. I am not sure if i have ever sat around with a bunch of guy friends listening to Flying Lotus when something else could be played?

Flying Lotus is palatable new-agey hip hop that makes white college kids feel cultured. I know because when I was in school, white lesbians would try to seduce me with flying lotus, bass nectar or generic "world" music. tragic.

LOL the fucking fuck?!

I can't even remotely relate to those situations and I've been an avid Flylo listener since 2006.
