nah cos i actually bought it, seems that it was included with the actual game anyway. i can handle 55fps anyway, and almost everything is on ultra so it looks fuckin gorgeous. it was vertical sync screwing it up. i dont even know what it is.

yeah, it's like "lol at those retards that got the game for free unlike us who gave more cash to an already filthy rich corporation!!"

but yeah if you got a legit copy you should have the patch already.

it's not screwing up, it's forcing your game fps to match the monitor's 60hz refresh rate to avoid the so called "tearing" artifact. though it technically it should only lower the fps when you go above 60fps, not mess things up when you have less.

lol at inserting a huge invincible enemy into pirated serious sam, that is a really clever way to battle piracy actually.

It keeps the game screen refresh rate the same as that of your screen - The possible side effect with it off is when you turn quickly you get screen 'tearing' where there's a noticeable bar where the pixels are slightly offset from one another.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

but then why would it have the effect of dropping my fps to <20? i do have a shite old lcd monitor, maybe thats it.

dunno, see if there's anything in nvidia global settings that could conflict with game settings. i always turn it off as well though because it does mess up fps.

The vaste majority of game developers are far from filthy rich.

That Far Cry 4 piracy 'bug' is great. My fav is the Game Dev Tycoon piracy feature for the people who actually pirated the game:

the developers got they salary, otherwise the game wouldn't be released.

it wasn't even a bug, it was an early version that didn't include all the options and optimizations.

Getting paid a decent wage for your work is not being filthy rich.

I don't want to get into a debate on piracy. I just think your resentment towards game publishers and still playing their games through piracy to be misguided. That isn't punishing anyone other than the teams of people who worked together to make these games. Usually through grueling nights trying to make a polished product before a deadline and I empathize with them. Giving them the finger while playing their game for free just comes off as disrespectful to me.

personally i'm not giving a finger to anyone, i'm just getting a copy of their game for free. if there was no such possibility (of obtaining the copy for free) i wouldn't have bought it instead, so i'm not causing any lost sales or affect their salary in any way.

anyway, far cry 3 sold 10 mil copies, that's 500 mil$ (maybe less cause the price drops with time) for a company of ~2600 workers (ubisoft montreal), almost 200k per person. so maybe it's not "filthy" but it's pretty damn rich. of course that's not how the income is actually distributed but you get the idea.

I seriously doubt 100% of the sales go to the employees !

yes, that's another point, you're not really paying the developers when you buy the game, after a certain margin at least. similar to records labels and artists in a lot of ways.

It's tempting to compare AAA games to the major labels except that the amount of work put into producing an album and producing a AAA title isn't really comparable. With the music industry, the majors have a lot more people working on distribution and marketing for a product that can now be made in someone's house or even bedroom and instantly shared to an audience with a lot less legwork. AAA games have MANY creative and technical departments - musicians, audio engineers, coders, graphical artists, script writers, voice talent, actors, etc etc. As well the whole marketing department. It's a lot more work by many people. Having a moral standpoint of saying piracy for AAA titles isn't as bad as pirating, say, a small indie developer doesn't really put into consideration that AAA titles are still created by artists and engineers but just on a much bigger scale. Of course it's going to cost a lot more to create.

not if everyone pirated it.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

ubisoft wouldn't have invested in it if they knew piracy would cause it unbearable profit losses, they're not naive, they know much more about piracy dynamics that we do.

Ha, how little you know - some smaller games rely on strong sales to pay the developers - if the game gets pirated and very little if any profit is made, some folks don't get paid, or get paid and then are out of a job because there's no income to fund the next project.

Even the big studios, if a game does not meet their profit expectations, usually the staff of said game is laid off - and if you think piracy doesn't precipitate that...

Smash Bros has shipped, arriving tomorrow - I am excite!

each case should be judged on its own, i'm talking specifically about big ones.

but that's an ethical issue, not a piracy one. it's like "i was supposed to make 50 millions from the game but made only 40, let's fire some devs".

There's no such thing as a company that redistributes the same amount of money to its employees anyway lol. Share holders and bosses man.

I have Dragon Age Inquisition for my (almost) brand new PS4 in front of me, installed and ready to go.

Bye life.
