What Video Games Are You Currently Playing

Recommended Posts

Hollow Knight is a great metroidvania. Slightly too easy to lose your way and have no idea where you're meant to go, but fun nonetheless to explore and find stuff. Music is stellar, too.

Currently playing Prey 2017 and Pillars of Eternity (oldschool baldurs gate DnD type of game, it's awesome).

Did some minor overclocking on the pc this weekend, can't believe I'm getting 4.96ghz stable with air cooling. lol. Jacked up the video card about 15% as well, with only 2C increase in avg temperature under load.

amazeballs.

I'm currently on my second Prey '17 playthrough as well. Still feels like a System Shock game, which ain't a bad thing. Only it's more open world station, and you can pick up a bunch of side quests.

Just remember that that toy crossbow isn't completely useless.

so far Prey is AWESOME. Few things. It's difficult as fuck in some parts, I'm on nightmare setting and you basically die in one shot if you're not playing smart. Have to utilize surroundings (exploding cannisters, turrets etc) as much as possible. Graphics, why does it kind of look like Bioshock Infinite to me? Any of the development team the same? Or am I out to lunch there? I just finished Deus Ex MD and DOOM2016, so enjoying the relatively less linear playstyle of this.

I never played system shock, but this is def nothing like Prey so I'm really surprised they branded it a Prey game. Any idea why?

I play a ton of shooters, and so far this is a solid 9/10 for me.

I understand there was a Prey from 2006, but I've never actually played that one. All I'm certain of is that the System Shock influence is plain as day, if you've ever played the first or second game.

Prey 2017 was developed by Arkane Studios; the same devs behind Dishonored. Not sure if any former members from Irrational Games transferred over to Arkane or not. Irrational were also the devs for System Shock 2 back in the late 90s. And you probably noticed that "Looking Glass" video playback thing in the game. As it so happens, the team behind System Shock 1 (from 1994) were known as Through The Looking Glass. Pretty sure that nod was a dead giveaway.

But yeah, as a fan of System Shock I feel at home with the new Prey. Weapons feel kind of limited, but in the same respect maybe you don't actually need a lot of weapons. I get crazy OCD when it comes to the Recyclers and Fabricators tho...lol

ohhhhh yes! i'm all over this. new 2d worms game coming to the switch  :music:  early purchase no brainer.

Yeah saw that as well ! The Switch seems like the perfect device for a Worms game btw.

There's so much good stuff coming on that console before year's end...Haters will probably say there's almost only reissues planned but that's a load of them nonetheless. And mostly good games.

I can't wait for Axiom Verge, Stardew Valley and Lumo to come out for instance !

Not a game technically, but I have been playing the shit out of this and giggling like a schoolgirl:

Stoked to watch OA II. The movement thing never bothered me, anyone familiar with Druidic studies will recognize the importance of movement to get to higher planes.

Oh yeah, I saw a slightly different version of that vid. Hokuto No Ken reference ftw

The 3rd party developers smell money and are finally on board, fuckin EA still waffling but screw em. I think 2018 will solidify this console as one of the greats, 3DS development will have mostly dried up, so devs can focus on one Nintendo console now. And the indies keep on coming, hopefully the mobile ports won't flood the system, I think Nintendo can see that would be a detriment.

Yeah, having grown up watching Fist of the North Star, this made it even more funny.

broke down and just double purchased botw (this time on wii u, a console you can actually buy). holy shit this game is good. it's very remniscient of mgsv in that it's a massive open world and a lot of freedom to the order you approach it in. was really getting into a groove before the power went out x_x

I've been playing this too, very cool. Lush art style and sound design. Definitely easy to get lost before you find the map to a new area.

I've also been firing up Fallout 4 again, mostly just to fuck around with console commands. Lots of fun spawning hundreds of enemies around your settlement and letting the missile turrets have at em.

If you had a Switch (to play the Switch version you said you owned), you'd be able to play it without the power on in the house (at least until the battery died)...

that's a pretty big if

;p

once the power comes back on the struggle will be with the missus as to who gets to play when -_-

Playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 and it turns out you gotta collect 9999 star bits to get the final star... so now I'm supposed to farm the 3000 star bits I need, with all other 241 stars already collected... yeah fuck this, that's the biggest middle finger i've gotten from a game ever

Sounds like an excuse to get a second TV and get a Switch so you can both play at the same time

X-Com Enemy Unknown (2012) is eating me alive.

I'm resuming my XCOM 2: War of the Chosen (the new expansion) and got as far as the escort mission for the Reaper and Skirmisher peace negotiation, where you have to wipe out the new Lost zombies on the way.

But after saving and exiting out of the game and then launching it again, I found out that all of my saves disappeared. WTF.

According to the Steam forums it's a permissions issue with Windows firewall. I'll try to troubleshoot it more later.

just started divinity original sin 2, which comes out of early access tommorow. so far seems as fun and challenging as the first one.

having realised how fun turn based strategy can be, the XCOM's are definitely next on my list.
