saw primer with the writer/director/producer/music/actor guy in person this week. he doesn't understand what happens in primer i don't think either. which is fine.

congrats to Christoph Waltz on his oscar win for his part in Django

unlike Inglorious, where I thought he deserved it, I didn't particularly like him in Django. Not sure the role, or him, belonged in the movie. Hate to say it but I think he's a bit overrated (anyone seen that Polanski flick he's in...Carnage? I could only watch about 20 mins of it.)

Also: Sam Jackson should've been nominated. He did a great job imo.

Berberian Sound Studio really is fantastic. Multiple viewings recommended. There is a really cool fugue state thing goin on up in dis bitch

can't believe roger deakins didn't get an award. ridiculous. skyfall was a shitty movie elevated to ownable based purely on the cinematography. instead life of pi, which looks like a windows 95 wallpaper, wins.

Waltze overpowered by his onscreen wife Kate Wlnslet. That was actually a sweet butt film, lol,Jodie Foster and JC Reilly had chemistry. An acting thing i guess

Toby Jones was overlooked for best actor. I haven't seen a fugue state carried off with such class since Bill Pullman shared a cell with Henry Rollins.

i liked carnage quite a bit, but i also love the office series so...

I should try to finish it. I just couldn't get over how staged it all felt. It's like Polanski just got together 4 friends of his to make a movie, there doesn't seem to be any particular reason they were chosen for their roles, and the dialogue was terribly artificial and awkward. Maybe it gets better if you allow yourself to get comfortable with the artificial dialogue, the way some Mamet does...

I'm not entirely sure, didnt watch it.. but I imagine its for when he was announced for best actor nominations and everyone knew DDL is gonna win even though he gave a much more impressive performance (at least his best yet).
