There was a guy from new york...

I could have sworn his name was d'tatchi but I can't find anything with that name...

You're thinking of Joseph Fraioli of Datach'i.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

He posted here recently in YLC and revealed that he'll be releasing a new album soon composed entirely of 'mouth sounds'.

Do you have a link to this? I don't know his username on here, unless it's the same as his artist name. >____>

Guest wavecycle

I'm surprised no-one remembered Ambidextrous. Nice Russian Melodic stuff.

Vim! was a favourite too back in the day

I can't find the topic, but here is one of the unreleased tracks made from mouth sounds...

Seriously... What happened to Arovane?

I recall Uwe asserting that Lilies would be his final album and he'd be going on an indefinite hiatus. The last track on Lilies is called 'Goodbye Forever' which I don't see as a coincidence.

That one i just can't listen...it's too emotional :( It kills me!

in regards to Arovane, my first exposure to his music was in the form of a soundboard live show bootleg that i believe was released after his last official LP. In my mind it still stands up as his best work and i dont think most of the tracks were on any of his albums. Anybody know what I'm talking about? I'll try to dig it out of my archives

I consider Arovane in the same league/or better than many of the featured artist on this forum.

Tides and Lillies are most haves for any IDUMHZ fans.

While he's not really forgotten, I kind of wish Tim Hecker would revisit his Jetone stylings. Ultramarin is a great album.

Another artist I'd almost completely forgotten about - Seefeel.

They released their self-titled album in early 2011. The preceding album was CH-VOX, from 1996.

There's very little I know about them, at least in their activity prior to this decade. But their style is generally a blend of ambient and post-rock.

Here's a good example of their ambient work:

Both of those records are terrible in my opinion. Quique and the stuff on Polyfusia are essential awesomeness though!

I enjoy all of the above each in their own way! And yes, I find Quique an especially great winter record. Goes nicely with wet slushy streets, bare trees and overcast skies.

They also made one Starethrough EP, with two beautiful tracks called Air Eyes and Spangle, remixed by Mira Calix and Autechre, respectively. Although I love both tracks and the Mira Calix remix, the Autechre Spangle mix is one of the very few Autechre remixes I don't care for.

Yeah idk, not having it. Wasn't doing a thing for me, haunting or otherwise. No big though - a lot of stuff does nothing for me.

When opinions on records are polarized I find it's usually a good sign. I love 'CH-VOX' and the 2011 eponymous record even more! CH-VOX was about as ambient/drone as they got and 2011 eponymous was nearly as different as can be from CH-VOX. In spite of that, you can tell it's the same band. One of my favorite groups.

Seefeel's 2011 LP is pretty lush. I especially like Dead Guitars and Airless. Kind of a raw but romantic vibe.
