heh. I had a minor role in that video's production. I knew it was going to be annoying. My main problem with it is it seems like such a politician's answer. "Something must be done." But not calling anyone out. Also, it wasn't Hollywood who produced this, it was a PR firm working for NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

However, if you look on the website, you'll see they get a little (slightly) more specific. And I know that there are a lot of people out there who believe anything a certain celebrity will tell them. (Jeremy Renner, in my case.) So although it's obnoxious, I don't think it's wrong. It can't hurt.

you're Jeremy Renner?

After the "I was Nancy Lanza" piece that was posted online earlier, some guy wrote a piece about him as "I was Adam Lanza". It's written like it's being primarily aimed at parents of children like Adam Lanza.

It's way more interesting than it may appear on first site.

Here's a couple of quotes:

  Quote

We don't take our rage out on you because we hate you, or because you're bad parents, or even because we're evil. We take it out on you because we know you're a captive audience. Often, you're the only audience we have.

When I attacked my mother or got angry at her, it had very little to do with her and much more do with the feelings of rejection and helplessness and crazy that had been percolating in my head from the experience of isolation that comes with being different. And isolation makes us even more different than we started.

...

because at one time in my life, I was Adam Lanza. I was Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. I was Seung-hui Cho. I was James Holmes. I was Michael. But my mother held fast. She is the main reason why, unlike theirs, my experience can be described in the past tense.

part 1:

  Quote
I didn't act the way I did because I was a sociopath. Yes, I have more difficulty feeling empathy than other people. But I can feel anxiety - acutely - and sociopaths can't, because their amygdalae don't function. Moreover, for me, a mass shooting followed by suicide would have been an act of despair, which is something else sociopaths would be unlikely to feel, given that they emotionlessly focus on self-interest.

I was never diagnosed with disorders like Oppositional Defiant Disorder or Asperger's Syndrome. In fact, my therapist - a saint who I will have much more to say about later - has explained that genuine instances of ODD are very rare. As to Aspergers, one of my strongest suits, even at my most troubled, was always a superior ability to communicate, and that is the polar opposite of what you see in children so afflicted.

It's supposed to be written in three pieces. The third piece hasn't been posted yet.

Unnecessary attention to the killer imo. What's the point exactly?

" Last law bearing means that any reformer or Prophet will be a subordinate of the Holy Prophet (saw) and no new Messenger and Prophet with a new religion, book or decree will come after him. Everything from him will be under the banner of Islam only."

Well in any situation all parties are going to feel valid in their positions. Is it not important to understand every position before making a judgement on a situation?

Perhaps you should read, before you judge?

As DerWaschbar says. Come on compy, this is not rocket science.

I just think a lot of kids can fit the personality of Adam, so yes of course we should help people if they are having problems. But its better to have a broader discussion on that than having articles titled "I was Adam Lanza" ... Media needs to stop using his name and posting his image. He should be forgotten completely.

I mean is the author saying he was planning on killing a bunch of people if he is all these killers? I just don't see the point. Like, "oh you should help people who are mentally messed up" ... oh really? Thank you sir, I hadn't thought of that. Also thanks for reminding me of all these killers who now (because of the media) are anti-heros of pop culture and will forever be remembered UNLIKE the people who were murdered.

A/D, I'm legitimately curious as to your contribution on this project.

hope will farrel stache is his idea.

I honestly laughed at that celeb vid. There are so many comedians in it I found it hard not to... Especially with Nick Offerman in there, his bit split my sides, he's basically become Chance Briggs from Childrens Hospital now.

And Chris Rock! Doing his stand up persona!

Oh well. I suppose some people might be able to take it seriously.

Compy, have you actually tried to read it, or do you think that by reading some quotes you can get the gist of the entire piece?

Frum explains it enough in the intro. If you don't like the piece that's fine and all. I think the author has clearly done some soul searching and came with a lot of interesting insights.

What goes through the mind of a school shooter? In the past days, we've all asked that question. The following is one attempt at answer. It was sent to me by a young person living in an East Coast metropolitan area. I am satisfied that the autobiographical facts described are true to the teller's memory and experience. The story is troubling, but important to consider. For reader ease, I have broken the essay into three parts. I am glad to report that the author is now personally stable, a college graduate, and gainfully employed.

I said "minor" not "mindblowing" role

I was just the sound tech for two of the pieces (every celeb was shot at a different location).

I'm not sure why you think a letter from MLK is relevant in this context. If it's about what could drive a man into violence, I'd say the position of a black man pre 1960's is completely different to that of a so-called 'A. Lanza'. This hasn't got much to do with segregation based on beliefs or race, or the isolation of a group of people. It's about some individual whose mind is distorted by his own beliefs because of being isolated. And whose distorted beliefs causes to be even more isolated, resulting in some negative feedback loop. Regardless of the system, or the society.

But I'm sure I haven't understood your point.

adam lanza = virgin

geek nerd dweeb

never even once got close enough to smell any pussy…...from even 3 blocks away.

if he had easy access to weed and prostitutes I think this might not have happened.

i'm not kidding.

20 years of sexual rejection/frustration,and knowing he did not fit in anywhere, hopeless loser with warped brain from too many hours of playing violent video games.

if one slut had blown this kid instead of mocking him this might not have happened?

just a theory

project much? j/k

no idea what was going through his head, but you could be right. I do think our society can put the emphasis on the wrong things. Sure deprivation and lack of education can result in personality problems and a narrow world view. But the weird WASP-y pressure-cooker of obsessing over grades and extracurricular activities just to get into the right Uni can (in theory) have a similarly deleterious effect. Tl;dr: our society can really over-emphasize the wrong things.

Not sure if a hooker would have "soothed the savage beast" but I do think sex workers (or people who don't even take that moniker but are just easy-lovin' sluts or like a sugar daddy) do have a role to play in society. I'm not ashamed to say they helped me work out some issues better than a shrink I used to pay over $100/hr for. Basically people just shouldn't be so hung up on sex or anything else for that matter, yolo etc etc.

That said from an armchair perspective dude does have a bit of a psycho twinkle in the eye. Just like Sean Booth. Maybe we lost the future savior of IDM too soon...perhaps what he needed most was a copy of FL...

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

i was going to say don't even dignify that with an answer.

Sexual frustration is not the factor that creates these guys.

see, you have to let me give the easy answers, I can't be all encey n' stuff.

Maybe he was a former member of watmm and used to be a happy wanker but it all went downhill after the nice tits thread got deleted...
