Why does this "Download" file download

Recommended Posts

So recently when I open certain threads here at WATMM my browser automatically downloads this file called "download". What's up with this?

why the fuck does "Warning: Using old versions of Firefox poses a significant security risk."

I'm not sure if this issue is coming from the forum software, our server, or from the client browser (you lot) - I know this current version has a lot of bugs that were discovered, and the software provider is working on an update to address those - I'll check the bugtracker and see if this is an issue reported by other forums using this software.

You really should keep up to date on your browser updates - has nothing to do with your OS. Firefox 18 was just released yesterday with significant improvements in it's javascript engine.

well so far there's 3 (including myself) that this has happened to, and I think it's only happened to us while visiting WATMM. Also, with me, the file was a randomly titled .exe, which seems a bit odd for it to just be buggy forum code. It seems like the board has been compromised in some way.

it doesn't work on my version so I just downloaded Opera. they're both relatively similar so I'm not going to worry about it for now, though thus far Firefox has a slight lead in terms of ease of use.
